The Other Guys series style is more like a tabletop RPG than a videogame but each main character in the series has a personalized "AI-type" personality that is different depending on the character. Most of the story takes place in a fantasy realm separate from our own with people from Earth being sent through to the world of Rigara via magical portals.

Enjoyable

I loved the story, but I think the stats were repeated in detail too often. Most of the quips were cheesy, but entertaining. The performance was amazing. Overall, a light hearted, humorous, save the world book. Waiting for the 2nd installment.

Good book

The Character sheet stuff went long but good story and I like the narrator and need hays is always awesome even if not the main narrator.

I really enjoyed listening to this story. SBT delivered great quality as usual. First that I've heard with Zachary Johnson. JK Galioto and CT Knospe made a great story. My only complaint is that it was over too soon. I look forward to the next book in this series.

Very enjoyable

Excellent story and good characters. One complaint is that the stats are detailed too often and take too much time. Aside from that, which is perhaps nit picky, five stars.

Narration team gave it life.

it not for the kick ass narrators I would have gotten bored. Dont get me wrong the book wasnt bad, it has a neat concept but it was repetitive (all stealth checks are a nat 1 because lol fight) and a little eh... plagerizy? A good bit of everything was pulled straight from DnD in that"copy my homework but make it look differnt" kinda way. What made that annoying is the 30yr experience DnD player who is super smart doesnt say anything... like zombie movies where no one seems to know what a zombie is.

Great humor and voices

I really enjoyed this book. It was a fun story with my kind of humor and nostalgia. The variety of voices for all of the different creatures and side characters was awesome.

I am hoping there will be a second book. this focuses on people and story as much as fighting. I really enjoyed it!

ok, now for an actual review:
This book made me feel hopeful and depressed all at the same time. =.= because i KNOW how it feels to work several jobs and feel like a putz. and its nice to have an escape fantasy, but every time i had to stop listening and come back to the real world....was just depressing...>.>....
i want all my Jack Of All Trade skills to be put to use as well....
it would be SO nice....

Not bad, it's interesting.

First off... the biggest blunder is not 5, not 10, not 15 but roughly 20 SOLID MINUTES of character/stat sheet reading. Every time he reads the never ending stat sheet my intest does an agonizing death and whispers "Whyyyyy?" as it fades into sweet silence.

Other than that some of the humor is too forced. All in all though it's a decent silly book that's meant to be just that. It's worth a listen.

The only thing that killed the vibe for me sometimes, is the reading of the characters sheet. I usually like the crunchy stuff.... but wow.... some of these are about 1-4 mins long. Sounds short....rt. Its doesnt feel like it lol. Id prefer a warning lol. Thats all Im saying.

Otherwise, its a great twist on life, the bridge between two worlds and the mechanics are different from any book Ive read and I love that.

When in doubt, read it on kindle unlimited.
