Publisher's summary

In Prometheus and Atlas, Dr. Jorjani endeavors to deconstruct the nihilistic materialism and rootless rationalism of the modern West by showing how it was grounded on a dishonest suppression of the spectral and why it has a parasitic relationship with Abrahamic religious fundamentalism. Rejecting the marginalization of ESP and psychokinesis as “paranormal”, Prometheus and Atlas makes the case that psi is only “super natural” insofar as our reductive modern scientific models have occluded supernature for practical purposes.

At the same time, Jorjani calls for a conscious recognition of the superhumanly empowering archetypes of Prometheus and Atlas, which he argues have unconsciously driven the daring scientific exploration and discovery of all those cultures that adopted and adapted the cosmopolitan promise of the Hellenic heritage. Embracing the Promethean and Atlantic spirit, and a reach for a fiery fusion of the horizons of the Eastern and Western worlds, would mean the dawn of a new age and an integral society wherein the modern barriers between science, religion, politics, and art have been dynamited.

I just read something real

This real - actually something worth being written down and something worth reading. The ideas are fresh from cover to cover.

Monument and Pioneering at the same time

Did you know that Johannes Kepler was also an avid astrologer. On the surface, this will be a survey of various religious, scientific, and philosophical great minds from Ancient Greece and Persia to late Twentieth Century Europe, America, and Japan with an argument for a unity which is "Atlantean" by various definitionss. Even the well read will be shocked to discover the depths of occult and alchemical interets and investigations by great scientists and philosophers like Emmanuel Kant and Sir Francis Bascom. The "conservative" unity between Robespier and Napoleon will be , in the very least thought provoking. The Cartesian unity between Des Cartes and the Marquis De Sade is discussed at length, which allows the Author to demolish De Sade, a prophet of the modern hedonism. Atlas and Promethius are transformed from the decorative statuary outside Rockefeller Center into the transformation of a chaotic Firmament and all consuming Void into measurable space and time and an ultra-pragmatic use of diametrically opposed theories to describe and manipulate Nature and Super Nature respectively; With theory being being defined and limited by tools and technology, a stark reversal of the general assumption. These Two are supplemented by the Spectral: that which simply cannot be e explained by theories or practice, or defined within space and time. An eclectic work with far reaching implications.

One of the most intreating books I have read in the last 10 years

A truly fascinated work. Each chapter could’ve been its own separate book. Prometheus and Atlas, is first and foremost a rigorous work of philosphy. It casts Kant’s and Descartes’s work in new light or perhaps better put in shadow of a old ‘Specter’.

If you’re familiar with and interested in the work of William James, C.G. Jung or Jacques Vallee, I would highly recommend you immediately start listening to this book.

Great book

I’ve been exploring Jason Reza Jorjani’s work for three years pretty steadily now. Finally getting to listen to this audio book after all this time was a treat. I’ll be reading and re-reading this book for years to come; a true classic that I believe will come to be included in the western philosophical canon in due time.

Narrator is just saying words and not narrating

Reads too fast for such a thought provoking book. Had to reverse many times to take it all in.

The most visionary thinker of our time

Can you think of anyone else who weaves together history, religion, philosophy, science, and parapsychology while proferring an explanation for the elusive UFO phenomena?

Very Advanced

I absolutely have and love all of Reza’s titles, it feels as if it was a very advanced being or AI putting all of the intel together. Similar to S.T Thomas Summa, Schopenhauer’s Collections, or Albert Pike. Not even Pinker seems relevant after one gets exposed to this, regardless of how all of it was produced and or compiled, I’m having a blast going through them multiple times, who knows, maybe was chat GPT, don’t care.
