Publisher's summary

Dragons have been extinct for centuries.... Can one young man bring them back?

Raphael was born with the mark of the dragon. His foster father taught him a mysterious and ancient magic unlike anything seen since the last dragon left the world.

Now, at the age of 18, he is accepted into a guild of mages with the promise of learning more about his unique magic. Raphael's strange powers could very well lead to the return of the dragons. The road will not be easy, but Raphael will find friends along the way, each with their own paths of progression and magical fates.

This coming-of-age fantasy series contains cultivation elements and incremental progression through spells, abilities, and equipment.

Book 1 Solid start but it falls apart after

The First book is a really good start, Some light world building, Good Lead growth.

The problem comes at the end of this book and into the next, Things get muddy. the story is almost forced forward with a conflict that we the reader only get the smallest hint at. Combine that with the MC being almost a One punch man, While having a team that are only somewhat helpful or down right useless. Lastly the outright assultish nature of the only women in his life and its just gets silly.

Fantasy version of Dudley Do-Right

Basically it is a fantasy, melodrama story that reminds me of Dudley Do-Right. It was a good, clean break from most other fantasy stories. The narrator did a great job with the different voices. The story was different from most even though there was an overpowered main character who everyone loves. I highly recommend this story if you want something different.

A little bit of middle

This book was decent but it had a few fall throughs. The biggest is that the main character is a bit mundane and childish, and the development of his skills are spontaneous and not developed. It felt like this book was written for preadolescents it was so childish, but then the author would add weirdly lewd comments..... It just didn't make sense.

*SPOILER ALERT* There really is a big taboo about adding characters in a book that can resurrect dead loved ones and put them in dragons........It felt wrong and just diminished the book.

Austin Rising however performed amazing, and surprised the crap out of me. Very good range of voices and really made this book more livable than it probably is.

This is such a beautiful piece of work, it's been a while since I have read a good story! Well I should say heard a story LOL. I cried at points, was worried, sad, and so happy at other times! This was a great read!

Awesome

I'm not going to lie at first. I thought this was going to be a super serious coming-of-age story. But it ended up being a somewhat lighthearted and fun story and don't get me wrong. There still is death and destruction. but that's towards the end of the story, and I found all of the characters enjoyable even if one of them does a full 360 in his personality between one meeting to another and my favorite was Silvia. if you enjoy fantasy stories with a strong MC, then I 100 % recommend this!

Cool premise, not cool execution.

Narrations good, some of the female voices are a little tinny but you can’t expect great female voices from a male narrator. The overarching world is a pretty cool concept, book one is a pretty crappy intro into the series but passable if the following books are info dumps. We started with zero information and we learned absolutely nothing and half the 1st book is taken up by what seems to be a side quest. This stories true fault is the characters. There wasn’t a single character introduced that was flushed out at all. Even our MC Raph has no depth. When we first get introduced to adult Raph he’s witty and clever and then instantly he becomes a whiny Boy Scout. Even the cadre of characters who are prevalent throughout the whole book have zero definition. I don’t like to throw the term around but this book is probably listed as a reference for “Cardboard Characters”.

Dragon Magus

Pros: -The author & the narrator did a fantastic job at guiding the audience through the book to tell one hell of a story. - The story and it's characters is unique and keeps the audience indulged until the very end. - Always love seeing the cover art Cons: -The beginning of Dragon Magus was a bit slow for me, but after a couple of chapters it picked up quite nicely. -Also, I didn't like the fact that each of the character's introduction to the book was slammed together but it was interesting to listen to none the less. - Audiobook was a bit short for me since I like to listen to audiobooks more than 30 hours but that's just me. Aside, from those things it was a very unique book to read and I look forward to seeing what's in store for the readers in the next book. Still giving the audiobook a 5/5. Nice job!

not as fun as I thought it would be.

took a chance thinking it would be fun and entertaining. it started out promising but the more characters that got introduced the worse the story got. I can't finish this.
