Publisher's summary

August Mulvaney has always been exceptional. As the genius son of an eccentric billionaire, his off-putting behavior is often blamed on his high IQ. They say there’s a thin line between genius and madness. August is both - a brilliant professor loved by his students and a ruthless, obsessive killer tasked with righting the wrongs of a failing justice system. And he’s just found his latest obsession: Lucas Blackwell.

Lucas Blackwell was once the golden child of the FBI, using his secret talent as a clairvoyant to help put away society’s worst. Until, with a touch, he discovers his coworker is a killer, and his life falls apart. Now the world thinks he’s crazy, and that coworker wants him dead. He seeks refuge at a small college, hoping to rebuild his life and his reputation. But then he runs into August Mulvaney. Literally. August is immediately intrigued with Lucas and his backstory. He doesn’t believe in psychics, but there’s no missing the terror in his eyes when they collide in the hallway.

Now August has a problem. Lucas knows his secret, and August knows he wants Lucas. And August always gets what he wants. Can he convince Lucas that not all killers are created equal and that having a psychopath in his corner - and in his life - might be just what he needs?

Psycho is a fast-paced thrill ride of a romance with a happily ever after and no cliffhangers. It features a psychopath hell-bent on romance and a disgraced FBI agent attempting to redeem himself. As always, there’s gratuitous violence, very dark humor, and scenes so hot it will melt your audiobook player. This is book two in the Necessary Evils series. Each book follows a different couple.

August = everything

I did not think I was going to like any story that wasn’t about Adam and Noah, but I think I loved this one even more. August might be my favorite person ever… he’s just too freakin adorable!

Wickedly Delicious

Psycho is one of those stories I love to read for the pleasure of the over the top , wild , offbeat plotlines , their morally dubious , quirky , oh so sexy heroes and its fast and quick pacing.

August and Lucas are very likeable characters and so different from each other that it's exciting "seeing" their friendship/relationship progression. They make a great romantic pair and a lethal force to be reckon.

Liam DiCosimo did a fantastic job narrating . He kept his tone light and playful exactly what this story needs.

Murder with a side of humor

This book made me laugh, like a lot which makes me think there might be something wrong with me. I might belong with this group lol. I loved August and Lucas. They are perfect together in all their obsessive love. The plot was different from the first but no less tragic and dark and gritty. But the love, the banter, the relationships balance it all out so well. The writing was fantastic. The performance is amazing, the narrator just does such an outstanding job. I can’t wait to see what happens next for this family of psychos as they all find their one.

Spicy and very hot

The story was unexpectedly refreshing and different to the usual romance stories.

The psychopath in it gave the story an spicy edge that I liked very much.

And it is very very hot - even for me as a woman ;-)

I adore these two and their story!

3rd person/dual pov
Spice: 4/5

I'm so happy I finally listened to my bestie and started this series! Even more so that I started it on audio! There is just something about a person who thinks they can't love or that they don't deserve love finding the person who changes all of that for them. It will get me in my feels every single time.

Here we have August who is so smart yet the way he responds and interacts with people sometimes makes him seem like he's not as brilliant as he is. He doesn't seem dumb in any way just... innocent? Strange to say that about a psychopath but he does have this almost childlike quality about him, especially when he's getting to know Lucas, and it is adorable as hell. He sees nothing wrong with the way he simply places himself into Lucas' life and enters the role of his protector. That alone is hilarious by itself considering he's basically a hitman and ex-FBI. Leave it to August - the one who loves the violence of it all - to fall for a man who used to track down killers for a living lol! I was surprised by the little ability Lucas possesses though. That was an element to the story I truly never saw coming but boy did it make things interesting! Especially in the spicy scenes... like dayum! The way that's described when he uses it during the intimate moments with August had me drooling. And of course, the spice all around was phenomenal. I have determined quickly that this author's style of writing spice is exactly what I like and wouldn't change a thing.

Then she adds in the humor. OMG, the humor! This is possibly my favorite thing about the book. The banter between any of the characters is always perfectly timed and it's so twisted and dark. It catches me so off guard sometimes that it has me almost in tears laughing! It really makes a heavy situation feel a little lighter and more enjoyable. So it's like she gives you the darkness you crave in a dark romance while the humor keeps it light enough that it doesn't feel like it weighs down your emotions to read several of these stories back to back. I don't feel like I've been emotionally drained once I'm done with the book even though I felt a ton of emotions while reading it if that makes any sense.

Finally - Liam Dicosimo. Lord, I have nowhere near enough words to express how fast he became one of my new favorite narrators. It is truly like listening to a multi-cast audiobook yet it's just him doing all of it alone. He gets into the performances of each character and really brings the book to life. Then as the narrator (because it's in 3rd person) he keeps his voice distinctive so it's obvious when he switches back and forth between the dialogue. Another plus is that he doesn't do the whole monotone "narrator" thing when he's not reading dialogue. I've stumbled across that with a few other audiobooks and I find myself tuning them out because of it but I don't have to worry about that with Liam. I hear every single word he says and he never loses my attention because of the way he performs every single element of the book flawlessly. I don't think a better choice could have been made in picking a narrator for this series.

I will wind up owning all of these in audio, ebook, and physical copies by the time I'm done with the last in the series I am calling it now.

Check the TW and I highly recommend getting the audio for these ahead of time because once you finish one book you will want to immediately jump into the next one.

Series keeps getting better

These boys are so twisted and the stories keep getting better. Very well written and Liam DiCosimo out did himself in narrating this and the first book. well worth the credit and your time to listen.

Omg I love August

I love how August told Lucas he was it for him. Yes August is a psychopath but that was kind of romantic. Want at first sight because of course August can’t love. I guess I’m screwed up because that seems like the kind of love that would last. Too bad for Lucas if he ever lost interest. It’s funny and sweet as much as it is a stalker staking his claim. I love August.

Perfect!

I received an ARC of the audiobook in exchange for my review.

Atticus and Jericho…whew. Atticus is a fussy man who’d rather keep his hands clean of the murdering that the rest of his family finds joy in. And I don’t mean clean because he doesn’t want to be involved; he doesn’t want the blood and dirt on his nice clothes! Which makes his meeting with Jericho a match made in heaven; Jericho wants to take care of him, enjoys doing the dirty work so Atticus can stay out of it.

Jericho is a strong, dominant personality who loves to tease the feelings out of Atticus and I LOVE his ability to pull him out of his shell. Even not understanding what he’s feeling, Atticus still does his best to comfort Jericho when he needs it and Jericho sees it, gets that Atticus is struggling to cope with feeling anything other than mad or annoyed. I loved their coupling, loved the way they fought for each other.

Now Liam is the voice actor for this series, and the man is 100% perfect for it. He individualizes each character with a slightly different “voice” each time, and I loved the personalization. Just be forewarned: He pulls no punches on the raunchy scenes either. Maybe turn the volume down in your car when it starts to heat up; you can’t get away with it sounding like a phone call. Trust me.

In short, yet ANOTHER perfect 10 for Onley James. She never fails to amaze me.
