A passable finale with far too much padding.

Let's get this out of the way first. The vocal performances in this audiobook are ong the best I have found on this platform. I have nothing but good things to say regarding the actors, their work and the editing crew that brought this project together.

The problem lies with the source material. I honestly feel like the story got away from the author and escalated beyond him. It is entirely unreasonable to expect a listener to sit through 6 hours, half the book's runtime, of padding before even arriving at the conflict depicted at the end of the last book. Very little in those 6 hours feels meaningful and it's a real struggle to sit through hours of ever more meaningless reading of bloated stats/abilities. For any older anime fans, that's like sitting through 21 episodes of filler content that has little or nothing to do with where the story left off last time.
Moving onto the latter half, it's just okay. It felt rushed, unfortunately, and could have used some of the time dedicated to the earlier fluff. I won't even get into the time paradox deus ex god-level insanity we're given toward the end. That can be someone else's headache. The Forlorn have felt less and less threatening with each book and it's no better here. They've become more of a plot device than an antagonistic force.

Go into this one with eyes open and lowered expectations. Mine were clearly too high and I was left disappointed. I hope your experience is better.

amazing series

I loved this series of books. I have over a 1000 books in my audio library and this series is in my top 3 for sure. The story is exciting and fast paced through all 5 books with excellent progression and character development. The intimate scenes are very well done and best of all not your cookie cutter sex each are well written and exciting. The book has a lot of stats listed and normally I'm not a fan of it but it fits and doesn't take away from the book. Lastly the narrator pair are 2 of my favorites they blend well together and their voice ranges are amazing

Another great book by David Burke. You will not be disappointed. Also the dual narration really brings the story to life.

A journey not descending down but into madness.

I haven't listened to all this story but I'm almost am. And I can say this. In the first four books, it was ascending to being someone better as he descended the space ship. But this one, at one point, I felt like the need to protect his love one's, the human race, and the time manipulation. He started to go mad. He's definitely at a point where he's godlike. But at what cost? If giving up "godhood" means getting his sanity back. I'm all for it.

yep! Still bad

In book 4 he pulls his head out of his butt about halfway through and starts to act a little like a grown man but in book 5 he goes back to being a little cry baby about having to have sex with other girls. The books spend more time in 3rd person of him trying to come to grips with his feeling than it does fighting monster or exploring. If a man wrote this he should be ashamed and might want to seek medical help to get his testosterone levels checked. This is not a book for men and I don't believe a women would be really interested. This is the plot of all five book. If you want to save the humans you need to have lots of sex and have babies. Him, I can't because my dad was mean to me. that is 1 thru 4. Book 5 he just doesn't want to.

Incredible series

Definitely recommend. I am distraught that there aren’t more novels in this series to read. David Burke does a great job maintaining the story line throughout.

Wonderful ending

This was a great ending to the series. The only part that get tiring is when they list the upgrades stats and names of the women with powers. I’m so glad I came across this series.

Nice End

The thrilling conclusion to the series, beautifully narrated to a nice end. Some of the stats are a slog to listen to, but that cant be helped due to nature of the book. Give the series an listen.
