In this warm, deeply-personal, and often humorous book, Nancy McCabe re-examines and gains new understanding of her early life and her ill-advised marriage. Borrowing from Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights and Kafka’s “Metamorphosis”, how-to essays and before-and-after weight loss ads, a curriculum guide, Bible study notes, an obsession with Tom Swiftie jokes, and women’s magazine columns and quizzes that oversimplified women’s lives and choices, McCabe examines the many influences that led to her youthful marriage - and out of it, into finally taking control of her life.

I found that Can This Marriage Be Saved? to be thought provoking, funny and yet very inspiring. This book proves that the truth is often stranger than fiction what I mean by that is Nancy did everything she could to hold together a marriage that because of her upbringing she truthfully believed she had to or else she would be a disappointment to her family. Mark may not have been her first choice but within that marriage she grew to become stronger and braver learning to fly and think on her own no matter what others thought or would think and that was truly inspiring for those of us in similar situations. Lee Ann Howlett did an amazing job as narrator giving you a real insight to the characters. I highly recommend this book to anyone needed reinforcement about being the true you.
This is my honest unbiased review that I am voluntarily leaving of my own volition.

What a beauty of a book. The writing is so honest and fresh. It perfectly captures the experience of being a young woman in the world in the 1970s. It's a story both of its time and completely relevant today.

I'm so glad I listened to it. Now I want to read the print version!
