Story
The causes of Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder range from severe neglect to monstrous abuse. Many survivors grew up in houses that were not homes-in families that were as loveless as orphanages and sometimes as dangerous. If you felt unwanted, unliked, rejected, hated, and/or despised for a lengthy portion of your childhood, trauma may be deeply engrained in your mind, soul, and body. This book is a practical guide to recovering from lingering childhood trauma. It is copiously illustrated with examples of the author's and his clients' journeys of recovering.

Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical violence. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

Story
It’s not just you. Stress levels are at an all-time high—so much so that a recently convened panel of medical experts in the US has recommended that all adults under the age of 65 be screened for anxiety. In How to Release Anxiety, Gabby Bernstein offers simple, actionable steps for feeling better, living with more ease, and showing up for those around us. Gabby’s unusual advice: Rather than manage your anxiety, what if you befriended it? Gabby posits that what we befriend, we can ultimately be at ease with. So she invites us to get curious.

Story
The latest groundbreaking tome from Tim Ferriss, the number-one New York Times best-selling author of The 4-Hour Workweek. For the last two years, I've interviewed more than 200 world-class performers for my podcast, The Tim Ferriss Show. The guests range from super celebs (Jamie Foxx, Arnold Schwarzenegger, etc.) and athletes (icons of powerlifting, gymnastics, surfing, etc.) to legendary Special Operations commanders and black-market biochemists. For most of my guests, it’s the first time they’ve agreed to a two-to-three-hour interview.

Story
These days, no one in America feels immune to violence. But now, in this extraordinary, groundbreaking book, the nation's leading expert on predicting violent behavior unlocks the puzzle of human violence and shows that, like every creature on earth, we have within us the ability to predict the harm others might do us and get out of its way. Contrary to popular myth, human violence almost always has a discernible motive and is preceded by clear warning signs.

It taught me forgiveness
There is this one particular topic or line in which I partially do not agree. “I forgive myself for my past”. It’s not always yourself, it’s not that you caused the problem. Rather, forgive yourself for blaming it all on you. You are not your mistakes, and you will never be. Do not let it define who you are or who you want to be in the future. Use it as a stepping stone to make yourself bolder and better.
In case no one has told you today, free yourself from whatever that’s pulling you down and unload the weights on your shoulder. It was never your fault, do not blame it all on you. Soon, you will claim that inner peace that you deserve.

Bullseye
I totally agree with the narrator when she said “You can’t go back in time but you can incorporate a new perspective in your narrative that will help us understand the world around us.” After listening, I realized that the way I see the world before as a child is already different today. I now have a wider sense on how the world works.

Very informative audiobook
This audiobook provided me with knowledge about PTSD, how the victims are traumatized and how they can get through it. With that, we also know how to handle or deal with people who have mental illnesses.

Reminder: you are not who you were
To anyone who’s reading this, may I remind you that your feelings are valid. Whatever happened in the past is all in the past now. Face what’s ahead of you by also enjoying the benefits of today. Do not look back anymore. Hence, use it as a motivation to move forward, to learn from the lessons it gave us.
