The President Is Missing....

A note from the author: My mother, Eleanor LaRue, initially wrote this manuscript in 1960, but never had it published...she left it to me when she passed away in 1995....

**BEFORE**

I began writing. I found the story when I moved a few years ago and felt compelled to bring her story to life. Over the last two years, I've updated, edited, tweaked, and added a time travel element for a contemporary spin. My mom lived decades before her time, but her message is as significant today as it was in 1960. Thank you for listening to our novel!

USA Today best-selling author, Casi McLean, presents A Switch in Time - a gripping time slip thriller ripped from today's headlines. In a country divided, where terrorists hijack peaceful protests and threaten the fabric of America's democracy, President Emery Clayton, III, discovers a global power behind the insurrection. He escapes to the White House attic to plan a counterblow, steering clear of initiating World War III - and vanishes.

After years of studying to realize his dream, James Rucker’s future explodes when he’s falsely accused of cheating on his final exams. Vowing he’s had enough, he joins a civil rights movement. But his trip to connect with the anarchists stops cold when his flight is struck by lightning and plummets into the ocean.

Can one man's soul rip through time to a different era...survive a plane crash...and mitigate a broken man’s rage in time to save his own nation from total destruction?

A Switch in Time

What would you do if you found yourself transported back in time? There must be a reason… the lessons learned could be life changing!

Casi McLean did a fantastic job with presenting this story. I’m sure her Mom would be proud. I always enjoy stories that include some type of time travel element, and it fit perfectly here.

William L. Hahn’s performance was exceptional. I could just sit back and enjoy the listen. Honestly I was so caught up in the performance, I forgot I was listening to a book!

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

One of the best I've heard

Summary –

“God grant me wisdom to light the way and the strength of our forefathers to save the day.”

With these words, current President of the United States Emery Clayton III is flung into the past. The reason is simple: America is at a crossroads and on the verge of a war fueled by racial tensions. He lands in the early 1960s and his journey takes him to unexpected places and circumstances. He spends forced isolation with a black man named James Rucker. Each of them is on opposite sides of racial unrest. Will Emory be able to see the world from James’ eyes and how harmful racism is or will he stay stuck in his own narrow viewpoint? Can a switch in time change his life and ultimately the future of America?

Narrator’s overall voice –

William L. Hahn is a superb narrator, one of the best I’ve heard. His voice creates the imagery needed to follow the story. His accent works perfectly for this story.

Does the narrator fit the characters?

William uses different dialects for each character which is so helpful while listening. There were many times I would close my eyes and could picture what was going on. William also invokes emotion while reading.

Narrator’s reading style –

William’s reading style is the perfect rhythm, allowing the listener to be fully invested in the story.

Narrator’s impact on reading experience –

William makes this one of the best audiobooks I’ve listened to. Everything from his pacing to the inflection in his voice to the recreation of the characters to the emotional impact on the listener all combine to an excellent reading experience.

Narrator’s pacing –

The narrator’s pacing is unhurried in parts, fast in others, which comes across as natural ebbs and flows of the story. It’s a superb performance.

Audiobook flow –

The flow of the audiobook is in harmony with the flow of the story. I immersed myself in the thriller and thoroughly enjoyed it.

What makes this audiobook unique –

What makes this unique is the storyline and the way William brought it to life. It wasn’t a reading, but a drama come to life.

Would I recommend this audiobook –

YES! I would recommend this to any reader looking for a time-travel thriller to read. There is a full cast of characters and William brings each one to life. Highly recommend!

Review

I enjoyed the story, it gives you something to think about. Imagine being able to share an ancestors mind for a period of time, to understand their thinking and to know why they thought that way. It was interesting to see how an incident in one’s life could alter your way of thinking. It wasn’t really a time travel, more like a mind travel. Anyway enjoyed the audiobook.

you call this a time travel?

I hardly call this a time travel. A

ll this was a reason for the author to spout his political drivel. I was not interested in a political book. Very disappointed there was really no interesting time travel plot.
