Publisher's summary

I’ve always been able to talk to animals. Apparently, I can hear monsters, too.

Hades kidnapped me. Yeah, that Hades. Greek mythology is real, and I’m learning the gods are real dicks. I’m tasked with caring for the monsters in the Underworld. Oh, yeah, Demeter is pissed about the whole Persephone thing. She’s kidnapped her daughter and making the monsters fight for sport. Persephone is quite happy in the Underworld according to Hades pet dog...who has three heads and is kind of a goof.

I’ve met a Kraken, a minotaur, a phoenix, and a black widow spider. I’ve also met Hephaestus, the God of the Forge, who has been abused by his family.

Frankly, I’m tired of these gods thinking they can just hurt everyone. I’ve found out why I can hear animals and monsters. And I’m coming for them.

great book!

I really enjoyed this book. My only complaint is that the narator sometimes cut out on some of the words. other than that the book was enjoyable.

Great Story, Terrible Narrator - M/M and F/F!!

It's great to see F/F and M/M in a why-choose romance.

It's medium burn and more plot than smut. All the relationships are really healthy. The angst comes from seemingly insurmountable odds, not bullying or angst within the group. The banter is excellent. The last book is a rollercoaster ride to the finish.

She's smart and behaves like an adult (she's a vet who owns her own business). She's a goody-two-shoes and all sunshine, but knows what she wants in bed and isn't afraid of kink. She reads like a real person.

Interesting world building and take on mythology. I really enjoyed the characters and plot.

The narrator is terrible. It's hard to tell which character is speaking and the voices are more strange than interesting. I finished it, but I'm reluctant to read the spin offs because they're the same narrator.

This seems to be a spin off of one of JB Trepagnier's other series, but you don't need to read the other series to understand this one.

I enjoyed it overall

Not nearly as much smut as I enjoy… let imagination run free and open your mind and just hang on for a fun and fictional ride… This is a mild reverse, harem book ( RH ) it does have some touchy subjects that can dare I say trigger somebody that has light sensibilities so to say this book is not for everyone

She's no Dr. Doolittle!

This whole series was outstanding, action packed and full of feels. Each book was engaging on its own but on the whole it took an old set of characters and breathed new life into them. Legends and gods and demons. It has it all.

Monster Whisperer- Great world building and unique and enticing characters as you would expect from JB. The book overlaps somewhat with her recent Scorchwood series which was also excellent. There’s no heat in the harem yet, just setting up the relationships and it looks like we’ll have some FF action for a change. Good to see. Plenty of action, drama and suspense

Monster Song- Even better than the first. The passion is volcanic and not just with the god. The action is high octane with plenty of suspense and intrigue. Just when you think they’ve got the bad guy taken care of and all will work out, Zeus steps in and ruins everybody’s day.

Call of Monsters- Rollercoaster ride to the finish. Super hot and full of all the feels. Just exactly what you want to see after investing in the characters and plot of the first two books.

Good store, good narrator, bad audio tech.

I loved the story so much I didn't want it to end. It was a reverse harem which was a bonus for me. The narrator was very good also. Her voices and accents were on point. The last book in the series had some technical difficulties to the point where a word was cut off in a sentence here and there. It was almost as if they were splicing sections together and the word got cut off partway through. I was able to figure it out mostly and for me it didn't ruin the story line too much. Some people may get upset with it so be forewarned.
I can't wait until I get another book by this author.
Happy ready y'all.

Interesting story, bad narration

If you can get past bad narration and bad accents, this is an interesting story.
Originally I was reading this on kindle but decided to try out the audio book since I lost interest somewhere around book 2. I hate leaving book series unfinished so the 3 books for 1 credit appealed to me.
River is a contradiction, she’s written like a goodie two shoes but turns out to be pretty kinky. The harem of partners she ends up with is a band of misfits that really don’t get along.
I probably won’t reread this since the narration was so bad.

Horrible narrator, get on KU instead

the story is very interesting, it holds and keeps your attention. However, the narrator is absolutely horrible. The voices she does for the characters is so bad it takes away from the story. She makes the phoenix sound like a goblin from Gringotts Bank. I'm sure there are steamy sections but I don't think I could handle them with the strange voices used for the other characters. This series is on KU, I returned this audiobook and am reading the ebook now.

Worst narration I've ever heard

I should have read the other reviews first. I'd already read the 1st book in e-book format (loved it) and wanted the whole series to listen to while working.

Buying the audio books was a waste of $18 because the narration is painfully bad. The narrator owes the author some heavy explanations.

The Greek minotaur has turned into a Muscovite gangster with the thickest Russian accent known to mankind. One of the other reviewers hit the nail on the head when they said the phoenix sounds like a Gringotts goblin.

If that isn't enough to make a buying decision: the phrasing, tempo, and syllable stressing for the entire story is both disjointed, like an AI that's piecing together pre-recorded words to form a sentence, and slow, like it's being read to a group of first-graders.

I'll finish up the series in e-book format because the author really did write a great story, but I simply cannot power through the narration.
