Publisher's summary

"There's a sharp wit and humor in Young's writing that will charm you...funny and compelling...a complex mystery...a peek into the world of wine and plants." (Liz Konkel, Readers' Favorite)

A wealthy wine connoisseur is found dead in a city garden, and Detective Morrison has multiple suspects on hand. Plants and wine are clues, and this brings two unlikely sleuths together. Roxanne's skills as an expert gardener and Georgi's as a wine aficionado are helpful, but their escapades put them in a dangerous game of death and intrigue.

When the body count mounts, Detective Morrison and his sidekick, Jack Peabody, track the villain through vineyards, gardens, and wine dinner pairings, but murder disturbs all the tranquility.

The world of wine and vineyards may soon become uprooted by what is discovered in the City of Steeples.

"A madcap adventure...kaleidoscope of colorful characters...brilliantly woven canvas upon which Rose tells her story!" (Terrie Scott, editor and author of Shattered Rose)

Worth every penny, and moment!

This is a well-written, well-narrated, hard-to-stop-listening-to book. My husband purchased this book for me and with the book came a free audio version through Google Play. I actually purchased this book on audible so that I could review it because I think it's an exceptional book.

I happen to live in the City of Steeples, and I really loved reading about all of the wonderful things in my own city. I can tell that Rose lives here because she knew about things that pretty much anybody could run across on a trip, but not all of them! I've been to a few of the vineyards she mentions, and in fact I know people work at a couple of the vineyards she mentions, and they make fabulous wine. I can't wait to try some of the wines that are mentioned and deliciously described in this book. I know some of the people that she drew on to write this book and she captures them incredibly as well.

One detail that I particularly loved was that the author refers to "the traitor, Benedict Arnold". Believe me, we don't say that name unless it's after the phrase, "the traitor", or "the turncoat".

All those things aside, I actually found it to be a very engaging book. The characters are funny, whimsical, and very authentic by turns. The characters actually develop, as well. I like authors that don't have rigid characters. I'm looking forward to reading a lot more from Rose Young. and I'm looking forward to people visiting my Fair City because they read this book.

I might actually visit Long Island because of this book. I've spent almost 50 years avoiding going there, but now I know there are vineyards that I could visit, I might just give Long Island another chance.

I've visited the restaurants and the coffee houses that Young describes, and they really do help make New London a great place to live. Note: Muddy Waters happens to have the best tomato soup, ever. And a good, strong coffee. Enjoy the book!

Suspenseful, and yet fun

This book was written by a local author in the area that I presently live and also includes parts of Long Island, NY which I am somewhat familiar with.
I found the book to be easy to listen to and follow , suspenseful and entertaining. After listening to the book I made sure I paid a visit to Muddy Waters for a cup of hot coffee and a blueberry scone . I plan on visiting some of the wineries that were mentioned in the book too.
I recommend this suspenseful and fun read to other members on Audible.com.

Fantastic!

Moves right along but not so fast that you need a double take. As a resident of Connecticut, it was fun to identify with the settings as well as learn new facts. The story is brilliantly woven, a fun ride to take along with the engaging characters. I honestly can’t wait for her next one! Thanks for the terrific listen!
