Excellent book for jump starting career change

I really enjoyed this book and found it especially helpful and motivational. The chapters on resume writing and getting interviews are great.

Very uplifting

I got positive vibes from listening to this. If nothing else it made me feel better. That I wasn’t stuck and I can change things. Definitely plan on buying the physical book though. So I can pick through it.

Unique and genuine

Decades of career coaching advice from someone who tried many career paths himself and also pursued knowledge to grow in understanding on success. Highly useful, even if you are already working. If you’re thinking about it, just get it… you won’t regret the time spent!

Mishmash of declarations and theology

Not at all what I’ve expected.
Rather than a systematic work this is a patchy collection of authors ideas (some of them are biased superficial stereotypes) and religious quotations (e.g. it took Jesus 48 days to pass through the desert).
If you’re looking for substance, pls look elsewhere.

Alienating and uncomfortable. Religious rambling

Do you feel inspired by random stationery with biblical scriptures on it? Do you love psalm of the day calendars? Do you feel motivated by rambling preachers who can't get to the point and get so lost in bible quotes that they forget to actually say anything helpful?? If yes, you'll like this and you may get something out of it. If not, please don't waste your credit on it; I'm very unhappy that I can't return the book or exchange it for something less preachy. It feels about as deep as a getting card that can't think of anything to say other than a Bible quote and expect that to be helpful.

I was hoping as the chapters wore on he'd ease up on the Sunday school lectures and actually get around to useful life coaching advice that would be both practical and useful, but it felt like if he didn't have a Bible verse or analogy every other paragraph that he was worried that you'd forget that he was a preacher. I don't know how effective he is as a life coach; maybe he's only a life coach for Christians and your extremely religious aunt and uncle who don't believe in psychology but they're willing to listen to a peacher talk about it. But it made it feel very alienating and uncomfortable with a lot of eye rolling.

if I could return the book I would.
