Publisher's summary

Assassin. Private Investigator. Cat shifter.

Kat is used to killing people, but for a blank check, she's willing to do the opposite and help solve a murder - even though it sounds boring as hell. That is, until she finds some body parts in her fridge, makes friends with the neighborhood cats, and realizes there may be an assassin better than her....

Suddenly, things have become purrfectly exciting.

An urban fantasy full of cats, secrets, and murders. This is a slow-burn reverse harem where Kat will find her love interests over time. Book one in the Catnip Assassins series.

Awesome

I absolutely loved this book. The narrator really brought the characters to life. The story is compelling and leaves me wanting to know what happens next.

Over the top

I was very disappointed in this novel - The narration seemed more condescending to me than a confident character and the Ms Mackinnon rushed the character building IMO.

Kat the main character is an assassin. The word assassin or the implications of killing people because its what you do, in the first 4 chapters is used so often I was ready to stop listening. I got it the first 40 times!! So Kat is hired to find a killer, which assassins don't do that sorta thing....you're reminded.

While IMO this story might have had potential, it wasn't until the last 5 chapters of the book that I started to enjoy it, and then it was over -

Shallow and Overdramatic

Normally narrators don’t bother me but this one I found grating it felt overly dramatic. She put way too much emotion in every word and it was making me cringe. I didn’t really absorb much of the story but the main character seemed really cliche and shallow, it felt very generic.
