Great stories! Heartwarming!

I'm a long time science fiction reader, so when this collection came around I thought why not? I normally listen to only novel length works, but was willing to try a collection.

Editor C. Stuart Hardwick has put together a superb collection of entertaining stories, without a single dud. I found myself laughing out loud in some spots, and some stories left me in tears at the end. And yes, given the title and cover art, these are stories about people, and there are space ships in them.

Handwick's enthusiastic gosh-wow style of narration was a little irritating at first, but soon won me over. It's clear he is not an actor, but rather an average guy reading enjoyable stories with gusto. Nothing wrong with that.

I rather hope to hear more anthologies in the future from him.

Very Enjoyable

If you like good science fiction stories with an optimistic (as opposed to dystopian) slant, then this short story collection is for you.

The stories collected by Editor C. Stuart Hardwick are equal parts inspiring and entertaining, with some also having deeper messages about the selflessness and humanity of mankind. You will hear stories about how a man builds a spaceship that cannot fly but which truly soars and about the creative way a stranded astronaut attempts to solve a seemingly unsolvable dilemma, just to offer a few examples. In many ways, this collection is a throwback to the optimistic science fiction short story collections I enjoyed reading when I was younger.

Editor Hardwick also serves as narrator for this audiobook and does a competent job, although there are times when I wish he would have shown more emotion and vocal differentiation between characters in his narration.

All in all, I give this audiobook 4 out of 5 stars.
