Publisher's summary

From the author of Embrace the Darkness, Tunnels, and The Artist comes Four. Four friends spend a night away camping in the English countryside, each taking a turn to tell a horror story that will terrify the others. But the group soon discover that there is more to be afraid of than just some campfire tales, and that no one is as innocent as they seem.

Interesting idea for a book

I liked the concept of this book and especially liked the last story told around the campfire. It was interesting how the friends put themselves in their various stories. Short but worth listening to.

Sitting around the campfire one night.

Audible review. Four friends go camping. Each tells a campfire story. Scary. Exciting. Funny. Fun. The last one, Martha, puts a twist on her story you won't soon forget!
The narrator did such a good job telling these stories, I found myself thinking they were true. A very fun read/listen.

Totally unexpected!

What a great unexpected ending. It’s like a short anthology wrapped into a horror story. That’s all the friends tell the tales it gets creepier and creepier and the ending just blew me away. If you like or anthologies or just horror stories with an unexpected ending this is the story for you. Some of it is gory some of it is gotcha all of it is great!

it was ok

At first it just seemed juvenile but ended up.ok in the end. Performance was a touch over dramatic for tastes at least for this book. I don't regret the listen but I'm sure it wont be something i remeber.

Nice anthology disguised as campfire stories.

I was really surprised by Four. It's about four friends who end up telling unique campfire stories. They have to use the four friends around the fire as the main characters and then are given a topic. I loved the setup and the thread of the friends connecting the stories. The overall novella is well written and has one hell of a twist.
Also the narrator does a great job keeping the excitement and thrill going. Definitely worth the quick listen and at the end the narrator says there will be a follow up book in 2020. I'll be one-clicking that book!

Exciting Short Stories Woven into a Grand Tale

This reminded me a bit of The Canterbury Tales as this was four short stories that were told as a part of a larger story. I always enjoy stories within stories, especially when they are campfire stories. The best part was that each short story was better than the previous and it goes out with a huge bang. This is my second collection of short stories by P.J. Blakey-Novis and I am looking forward to hearing more. He really provides a lot of great detail to fully bring you into each story he tells. Not only that, they are all unique and twisted and just force you to want to listen to more.

David Sweeney-Bear did a great job with the narration. I loved his accent for the character's voices, the cadence he used, and the overall energy he put into the story. He really ratchets up the tension and fear.

Hope there is a sequel!

I enjoy camping...and the thought of sitting around the campfire telling scary stories really drew me in. I loved the twist at the end, since I kept expecting outside forces to appear and wreak havoc.

I'm hoping that this novella gets expanded into a full story or that there is at least a sequel to it.

(The narrator also did an excellent job.)

What is done in the dark always comes into the light

Four is an absolutely amazing fast paced novella. I loved how the characters were developed as they told their stories. The narrator was absolutely perfect for this book. I loved the plot it was new and creative. The ending was a twist that I did not see coming. I can't wait to read the next book. The author used descriptive language that brings the book alive. I received this audio book at my request and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review. This book is truly a must read.
