Publisher's summary

In the beginning, it was all about the music...until that wasn’t enough.

Child Prodigy and devoted musician, Ian Taylor, forms a rock band with his three best friends, helping them rocket to stardom and all the spoils that come with it.

But Ian’s heart is torn between the teachings of his youth and the temptations of music and the stage. When Ian disappears for two years, Buxton Peak falls apart.

Returning to center stages brings its own challenges, and life as a rock star is not as easy as it once was. The guys have grown up, and the original dynamic of the band is lost in the distractions of substance abuse and women.

Can they pull their lives, and their music, back together? Can Ian learn forgiveness as he fights to become the man God wants him to be?

See where it all began....

Steve rocks another Buxton Peak book!

I'm amazed how Steve is able to do all the voices consistently over the entire series! I may be biased when I say that I love this story, but Steve brings it to life in a way I never imagined! I almost wish I'd written more books in the series! Thank you, Steve for joining me on this fantastic adventure! Let's rock! -Julie

Cute story

Buxton Peak: The Early Years is a cute contemporary romance with a great pace that kept me engaged. The characters are interesting and well developed. The narrator gives a fantastic performance, has a pleasant tone, and the switch between character voices/accents was seamless.

Good clean romance, great narration

I liked this story but I’m not a fan of religious novels so the extensive Mormon topics weakened the story for me. I realize it’s part of the character and what forms the story line but it was too much detail for me. I did enjoy the characters and I want to continue reading the series in spite of the extensive Mormon topics. I look forward to hearing the next book and seeing what happens next.

Religious rockstar

This was my first book of Julie Spencer’s. I enjoyed it. I liked the religious aspect of the book. Ian Taylor struggles with living and working in an environment not suitable for his standards. He takes center stage to observing his friends make poor choices from woman to drugs. And when he decides to put the band on hold for a couple years to serve a mission his band mates don’t support him but don’t leave the band either. There is a hint of a romance with a couple of different girls. He doesn’t find his HEA in this book but there is a whole series to lol forward to after this book. I liked the narrator. I don’t always likes male narrator but I enjoyed his voice. He stumbled on words occasionally would be my only comment.

Adored it!

I loved this audio! This is the first I’ve read from this author. I was not disappointed. The audio only added to the series. And the story? I loved it! I love a good rockstar romance, and this book was unique and fun and serious. I loved that we got all of the backstory. I cannot wait to hear more!!

Great start to the series!

I read Book One awhile ago and really enjoyed it. So it was great being able to go back in time to see how it all started. The bond between these four, very different young men is impressive and I enjoyed hearing how it all came about.

Ian’s desire to balance his faith with his friendships provides some unique challenges as their fame and fortune grows. While his band mates take to the “sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll” lifestyle, Ian tries his best to find God in the midst of things and serve when and when He places him. Nicely done!)

A complex and wonderful story!

Ian who loves music also loves the Lord.  When four young boys are at school together Ian started a band with them.   He was the one from the beginning calling the shots for the band.   He was writing all the songs and he was the singer.  They ended up becoming famous before the finished high school or even be old enough to get their driver's license!

Once Ian turns 19 he is conflicted on what to do about his mission he was supposed to go on.   The band is wildly successful at that time.  During the story Ian writes in a journal.   The entries reflect the current situation in his life as well as his age.   This first story is from when they start to figure they are 22.  Read about all the growing pains the band goes through and all the mischief some of the guys get into!

A good contemporary story

This is a good contemporary story about 4 guys in their teens starting a band and making it big. It’s a good book and is the first in a series.

Backstory for the Ages!

This story is different than the other 4 in the sense that so much time passes. You are literally going through the backstory of all 4 rock stars (mostly Ian though) from the time they were school boys until their early twenties.

It really helps set the stage for the next 4 books and provide so much character development that adds another element that would otherwise be missing from the other stories.

Like her other books, I couldn't stop listening to them! I literally stayed up until 2 am listening because it was so good!
