Publisher's summary

Edward Fasbender is a devil.

He’s my father's biggest rival. He takes what he wants, and he bows to no one.

And now Edward Fasbender wants me.

I didn’t expect to want him back.

Having him is not in the cards, not when a union with him would destroy my father. But that doesn’t mean I can’t play with him a bit.

Except, I’ve never played against such a ruthless opponent. Edward is cold and vicious, and my blood has never run hotter. They say you should choose the devil you know, but I've always preferred long odds.

Even if it'll get me slain.

What?!?!

Holy hotness! This book is full of manipulation, plotting and push and pull chemistry. It’s full of deception, denial and regrets. Celia is the character you love to hate and in her own story, she’s growing on me. Michael? The cliffhanger ending? Whoa!!!! I knew what he was going to say in the moments before he uttered the words. What?!?!?!

This was an audio read and Elena Wolfe killed it!

A deal with the Devil

Oh my! This book is layered in twists, turns, questions, and so many past secrets that are not being revealed fast enough.

Edward is not your typical alpha businessman. He’s sexy, aggressive, the ultimate puzzle, but can show love for his children, her sister, and just about anyone else other than the prize he has his eye set on.

Cecilia has a dark past that slowly gets revealed and not very much is brought to light. Just hints and little moments here and there. She has so much growth that can happen, so much foreshadowing backstory to drag the reader in. So much personality of being captured, and falling prey to Edward.

This book does end on a cliffhanger. A big, what in the world, kind of cliffhanger.

Note to other readers: Does have bully romance, sex is consensual by all adults, and there is a hint of past child trauma.

Slay

This book was so good! Edward Fasbender and Celia’s story is amazing. Both are plotting against the other. Edward has his reasons for wanting to marry Celia and it has nothing to do with love. He drops hints along the way though. Celia is a very strong woman but is she any match for the ruthless Edward? The cliffhanger ending was such a surprise. I didn’t think Edward was quite that devious. I cannot wait to listen to book 2. Elena Wolfe did an amazing job with the narration, including Edward’s British accent.

Roller coaster Of emotions!

Obscure, dark and intriguing are the first words that come to mind when I started reading Rivalry, it was a slow read, it took time to finally start to get juicy until we finally get to the heartwrenching momentum.

it was a roller coaster of emotions, everything between Edward and Celia was not set in stone, you will feel like she has finally gotten under his skin but every time you think that get ready to be proved wrong.. Edwards's agenda has been very discrete and secret making Celia never knowing where is she stepping or heading in this particular setting they had to agree to be with.

Rivalry is hot, unpredictable and with a lot of tension between the main characters. it seems like is going to be a good series but still trying to figure out where it's heading.

Great narration by Elena Wolfe love how much depth she added to the story and the characters.

I didn't know how I felt with that ending so Probably I'll get back to my review whenever the whole series is out...

AN OUTSTANDING, EPIC, INSANE ROLLERCOASTER RIDE

I’ve just finished the fourth book in this Slay Quartet series and wow, it’s been an intense, insane, rollercoaster ride with sheer dips, sharp curves, treacherous 90 degree turns and emotional loops that’s sure to get your pulse pounding. And, as these enemies push n pull one another’s thresholds, they slowly learn each other’s weaknesses, emotional boundaries, sexual desires and limits. But it also brings up some dark secrets too.

This is a multi-layered intense story as their sizzling chemistry sparks, smoulders and smokes in an arranged marriage that certainly doesn’t rush to the HEA and I’m so glad I waited until all four books were available because the cliffhangers were brutal. I lost a lot of sleep because I just didn’t want to stop listening to this addictive story. It was hard-won steps forward leading to shocking surprises and many steps back. It was brutal moves and manipulations leading to emotional clashes and confrontations. It was a dark and deliciously tense storyline. It was kinky.. and definitely h.h.hot. And it was a tense highly-charged rollercoaster.

Both characters had impenetrable armour protecting them from feeling.. both were complex initially cruel individuals.. both had tightly-held secrets which were slowly revealed.. and both were absolutely perfect for each other after their long battle and character growths. In the first book, told from the Celia’s PoV, Edward is a sexy, dark anti-hero and is absolutely unapologetically despicable - but thankfully we get to hear his POV in the other three books and there’s good character growth which was good. Awesome narration brought the stings and the passion, the twisted colorful characters, the levels and layers, the sour and the sweet, the lust and the love.. and all the weaves in the well-written chapters to life.

Worth a credit? This outstanding, complex, epic Quartet would absolutely definitely be worth 4 credits. but yay 2 are free with Escape so even better ;)
