Kelley Hazen always shines!

I always give 5 stars for ML Hamilton reads but these were not my favorite. I know every book cannot elicit warm-fuzzy feelings but the last book could be very triggering to anyone with an abusive ex and new partner. Yes, it is a “I am women, hear me roar” ending, I felt great angst reading about all of Lexi’s downed luck. Just my opinion and others may love every minute! Happy Reading. Kelley Hazen is incredible as always.

Incredible Listen!

The Winter of Discovery Box Set by M.L. Hamilton is made up of the three books: January, February, and March. Each story is a standalone listen and has a wonderful message. How one selfless act brought out the best in others was incredible. I liked how the books had some characters intertwined in casual friendships, yet the stories were totally separate and encouraged them to be the best that they could be, and to reach for their dreams. I loved the fact that each woman focused in the books, had her own problems that were relatable. This collection of stories by ML Hamilton is so well done. Kelley Hazen is incredible with bringing the characters to life. She gives them distinguishable voices and inflects real emotions. Another kudos to the narrator is her ability to perform various ages, genders, and accents. I love being able to listen and hear exactly whom is speaking. I loved each story individually, and find the box set even better. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I highly recommend this book, and will most definitely listen to more by this author and narrator.

The Winter of Discovery

This is a fantastic listen the first 3 books in the series. The Author has brought these three fantastic listens to fruition. It feels like I am right there in the scenes living through them vicariously. The Narrator and Author has really hit a home run. The Voices and Characters are fantastically written. I definitely recommend

So worth the credit!

Let’s start with January this is when we meet Madeline right after her oldest sister’s funeral she works at a bar but wants so much more for her life like to run a bed-and-breakfast and hopefully with Tyrone someone who she says isn’t a boyfriend but you can tell there’s heat between them and trust me it progresses. Maybe with the love of Tyrone and squelching her self doubt she’ll be able to reach her goals. If only she could stop warring about everyone else and stop warring about herself. There are things she is going to learn that would be helpful to her just know this is an awesome awesome story they started the year off with a bang Madeline is a great story. In this story you first meet her sister who is a big-time taker she takes drugs peoples man whatever time she’s very selfish and one of Madeline’s problems.

February is when we meet destiny my heart went out to destiny she loses Terrence in the war in the Middle East and is left with just her and her daughter Aamir. Having a husband and plans and dreams that she just knew would come true. What is she to do now that Terrence is gone and what does this mean for her life there? Even though she has the support of loving friends and relatives herself doubt nags at her. This one made me cry and there is a part I willnot give it away but it meant it was very sad I almost had to pause the book. I was so into it though so I sold it on this is really good I think this is one of my favorites, but then again I felt that way about January now onto March
Here we meet Lexi let me just say there is a trigger in this story it is drug addiction in a little domestic violence. She has an appendectomy and afterwords given pain pills for the pain she becomes addicted and it eventually causes her to lose her husband and her daughter. Well she bounced back can she do it alone or will she be alone. I know this description is brief just know the story packs a punch it’s as if the stories just get better and better. Lexi story really affected me because I too was a drug attic I have been clean sinceJuly 17 of 2013 I was so proud of Lexi’s courage and determination and also disappointed in her and then proud again this is a very good book. All three stories of valuable stories and are easy to identify with especially with the self-doubt in the wanting better things but not knowing how to get them I can’t wait to finish the year of books they are so good so far. I mean they are great so farg July 17 of 2013 I was so proud of Lexi‘s courage and determination and also disappointed in her and then proud again this is a very good book. The Winter of Discovery

The box set of the first three books in The Year of Discovery series! All of the books are stand alone, but they are so much more powerful if read as a series.

When breast cancer takes the life of one woman, the legacy she leaves behind prompts twelve other women to embark on their own journey of discovery and to pursue their dreams.

This set contains Madelyn, Destiny, and Lexie’s stories.

I cannot imagine a better narrator for this series than Kelley Hazen. She brings out the emotions that each of the characters are experiencing, the highs and the lows. As I listen, I feel like I know each of these characters, they are all so full of life.

A very good set of heart-warming stories...

The motto of the set should be: Never stop pursuing your dreams - and don't let others dictate you who you are.

The set contains three books that are separate stories, though all are connected through characters appearing in all of them as they remain in the same circle of more or less close friends. Each of the women the books are about - Maddie, Destiny and Lexie - has her own personal demons, problems that seem insurmountable, weaknesses but also strenghts, and each of them is an actually strong person, even if they do not see themselves as such. I also like the fact that each of the stories touches on an important issue - how to cope with the death of someone you love; how to live on without sacrificing your own dreams to let others follow theirs; how to overcome your own fears and belief in your inferiority to others; how to survive a relationship in which you're always the guilty party; how to rebuilt your life after an addiction; and how not to give up but fight for what has always been your dream.... And all these difficult matters are touched upon with delicacy, great tact and subtlety...

Narration by Ms Hazen is very good. She adds warmth to the stories, she makes the main characters seem human and real, and definitely relateable. It's a very good interpretation of the books.

An Awesome Collection

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and found it inspiring. I don't listen to much fiction, I prefer more action and suspense usually. But the first three books of this series, has won me over. Every type of emotion is on display. The death of a beloved sister starts the cycle, the first book is about the legacy she left her younger sister. The second book is about a friend, the younger sister encouraged. The third book is about the friend helping a co-worker. Each book is inspiring and uplifting, even though tragedy has it these women's lives. This combination of author and narrator never fails to draw you into their world.

Big sleeping pill

If you like an over dramatized nothing like real life Hallmark romance then this book is for you. I could not even finish it...

Even worse the cadence of the narration is unbearable. I tried listening at 1.25 speed but it did not help much. Really disappointing to waste a credit on this.
