Publisher's summary

At 12 years old, Bo is unexpectedly promoted from child to man during this special hunting week-end in the woods of East Texas. He faces a series of tests; corralling his wayward brothers, protecting his mother's shotgun, keeping track of his prized knife, and meeting his demanding father's expectations. He may even impress the girl he likes--who happens to be the only girl on the hunt.

Travel back to a time when families hunted together and dogs were held in higher esteem than children; at least the children thought so.

Just wonderful!

What a treasure of young innocence and nostalgia! Doyle Carver’s writing lends vivid color to each character and the East Texas piney woods. The narrator was great too. This is one of those fun enough to listen to again Audible Books. Highly recommend.

Very entertaining and well told story.

I listened to this book at work with a smile on my face the entire time and tears in my eyes a time or two. . Brought back memories of family members that I loved.
