Publisher's summary

The half-orc girl, Mikaia Goretusk, has been torn from her home. Her world. Her family. Her only allies are the holy knight, Arthur Shield, once sworn to kill everyone she has ever cared for, and the witch, Hazel Midd. Arthur struggles with the guilt of being unable to save his god. Hazel seeks desperately for something taken from her. They distrust each other, but both are compelled to protect the young girl.

To return her home, they must battle angry mobs, hags, and dark wizards. They will seek the aid of the Knights of Saban. The very god that ordered the extermination of her family. But Saban is dead, and not all is as it should be in his temple. The knights have enlisted the use of dark magics to rekindle the fear that was once theirs by right.

Mikaia’s road home will be a long one. Will her first step in that journey be the last?

Short and very sweet

I really liked this book. It was short, fast paced and fun. I was intrigued from the very first line. The characterization of Author is very well done and you feel like you get to know the characters pretty well, even if you cruise through the book in one day. The fight scenes were well written and it's altogether, a fun story to sit back and relax with. I will, most definitely, be picking up the next one.

Couldn’t put my headphones down!!

I’m normally not a read or listener of audio books, but I was introduced to this author and I can’t get enough of his writings and book. And “King of the Dead God” was no exception. I pretty much listen to the entire book straight, with an exception to some interruptions. The way he writes make it easy to envision. This book had some fun intense moments. The action scenes are well written. Not to mention the narrator did awesome job. Love this book!!

Good Story with cool characters!

Knights of the Dead God is a cool story that takes place in an interesting world. This is a standalone novel but there is a previous book that takes place in this world with some of these characters, I never read that one and think it would of added some backstory to this but it isn't needed to enjoy this book. It has a good amount of action and cool fight scenes and the character of Arthur shield is a bit of a badass.

The narration by Senn Annis was very good. I would recommend the book and am interested in listening to the previous book which appears to have taken place more in the modern world then in this 'medieval' world.

Gripping Weave

Told through the eyes of a young girl, I entered a new world with the observation, habits & insecurities I felt at that age. Event after event, I loved how each character weaves throughout as an important part of the main storyline, culminating together fantastically at the end. The central three characters were compelling & I related well to each of them. Their motives, etc were perfect. Well-written and with a decent performance, I enjoyed this audible experience very much. I would recommend to anyone tween & older, any gender. Great female leads as well as a male lead.

Great Action Packed Story

For such a short novel, there is a whole lot of world built and characters fleshed out and interesting pov's to go around. We go from an old warrior with a crisis of conscience, to a young girl trying to find her way in a unknown world, to a witch who has more at stake than she lets on and this cast of disparate characters journey through an unkind land full of unkind people learning to have one another's back despite significant distrust among their peoples. And all throughout the narrative speeds forward like a freight train towards an ending that I don't think it's hyperbole to say is worthy of being the end of a series, but as every ending is a beginning it has me excited for where this could potentially go from here.

The narrator does a great job bringing these characters to life in addition to a cast of secondary and background characters ranging from other children to nice old ladies to one of the best voices given to a villain I've ever heard (seriously it's like seeing Umbridge the first time in Harry Potter, you just know he's not good).

A Confusing Start

At the start of the story I was a bit confused, was this a medieval world? and if so why does a 6 year old half ogre act like she knows artificial flavors like fake cherry? The beginning was not holding my attention well and so my mind would wander making me have to go back and re-listen to parts because I missed something relevant to what is happening now. Then something just clicked in the story and Im not even sure exactly where that happened at but it did and I began to enjoy the story. I had hoped book 2 was already out because I like to marathon a series that way the details dont get lost between stories but I am looking forward to the next book in this series. **This book was given to me free in exchange for my unbiased review**
