Age gap

I was really looking forward to this instalment of the Hearts and Health series. I was so happy to see Kane and Paul get their HEA. I did feel that points that Kane was too pushy but he went after what he wanted :). I thought the work story could have been handled differently but this might be exactly how things are done - I don't know. This is a great book.

Paul and Zane fill this prescription for... love!

Fun age gap story between newly-divorced ER doctor Paul and Zane, a victim of a violent anti-LGBT assault by his stepfather. Paul initially resists the advances of the young man who was briefly his patient in the ER, but Zane is persistent... Ben and Gage (from Heart Trouble - HH#1) are here to offer support to Zane, who turns up the heat on Paul. The prescription written is for a love potion that must be filled... despite an obstacle or two. This audiobook narrated by Kenneth Obi, who gets all the voices right, is a blast.

Sweet Story

This was a sweet story about Paul an ER doctor who spent most of his life in the closet, and Zane a man much younger who was kicked out by his family and assaulted by his stepfather for being gay. These characters were sweet and I really enjoyed the story.

We met Paul in Heart Trouble, and though it isn't necessary to read/listen to that first it will enhance the story -he was not a well liked character there, so it was nice to see him redeemed. I wish we could've seen him accepted by the ER staff and Gage before the end.

Kenneth Obi as usual does a great job with the narration. I always enjoy his smooth delivery and character narration.

Age gap

I'm usually leery of age gaps if the younger person is close to 20, but this book is well done. And two seemingly annoying characters from the first book are redeemed!

Unexpectedly sweet

I can't believe that this story is about Paul (who came off as quite off putting in the first book) and Zane (who came off as a brat) -- who were not really characters that could be considered perfect by any means. But they really work well together! As we get to know them better, we understand them and can see why they are a bit flawed. Great narration and the story captured you to the end. Beautiful romance and sweet story. Recommended.

fun story with great vocals

DJ Jamison gave us all a funny, yet touching story that Kenneth Obi brings to enjoyable life. They had me giggling and when Kenneth is vocalizing talking to the dog, I can hear his love for his own coming though.

Sweetly Awkward

Not your typical May / December since at 39 Paul is newly out and still unsure of himself and over thinking. Put him in a situation where his job is at risk, and pair him with Zane who at 20 is pretty impulsive and it’s a sweetly awkward love story.

I really liked the story and mostly liked the narrator. As narrator and Paul he was good, but read Zane at a higher pitch that cost him some range of emotion.

A rather unlikeable character is redeemed!

This is the third book performed by Kenneth that I've listened to. He performance was very good but I thought his voice for Zane sounded a bit too effeminate and at times I thought the same about his voice for Paul. I definitely enjoyed listening to this story and I was reminded me of how much I loved it when I read it two years ago.

Bedside Manner is about two secondary characters from Heart Trouble. You don't need to have read Heart Trouble to enjoy this one but I recommend doing so because: 1. It's a great book and 2. You will gain some background information on Zane and Paul before reading their story in Bedside Manner.

Bedside Manner is a perfect May/December type of romance. Zane is 21, Paul is 39. Now some people might think that big of an age difference is creepy but Zane is really mature for his age and Paul, although he is a doctor, is not mature when it comes to loving a man. Paul has been in denial of his sexual orientation for many years and just recently came out after divorcing his wife. Zane is dealing with the aftermath of coming out to his family and the terrifying reaction of his step-father.

Paul Johnston was actually kind of a creepy character in Heart Trouble. I'm so glad that he got his chance to be explained and redeemed in Bedside Manner. Paul met Zane when he was admitted to the hospital after a beating; Paul hated that he was attracted to a patient but their doctor/patient "relationship" was very brief when Paul saw Zane in the ER.

Paul and Zane's relationship has many ups and downs. Paul is still coming to terms with being out and thinks he's too old for Zane. Zane is recovering from the beating he got and trying to get his life back under control. When they are together sparks seem to fly and the sexy time is off the charts.

I did a beta read of Bedside Manner and I could not put it down once I started reading it. I've been following DJ Jamison for a while now and I love her books. Her stories are full of thoughtful, wonderful and sometimes flawed characters. Her writing style is expressive and flows smoothly and her stories are full of characters that I wish were real so that I could become friends with them.

Great!

Loved this new one from DJ Jamison in the Hearts and Health series! I thought the author did a great job with the hospital aspects of the story which is important to me as I work in the health care field. It had excellent main characters and a solid plot...I look forward to reading more in this series! Ken Obi did a nice job bringing these guys to life!

as good as the ebook

The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. Kenneth Obi is one of the 2 narrators (so far), I can listen without break and have no problems to follow.
