After all, as he says, technical diving is on the same spectrum as conventional sport diving: It is just a different frequency.

Scuba Exceptional also deals in detail with the psychological approach to scuba diving, broaching topics from new angles and borrowing techniques and procedures from other fields of human activity.

While most of Scuba Exceptional focuses on the diver, it also takes a look at the wider picture and highlights a number of areas where scuba diving professionals and the “industry” as a whole are letting divers down. As always, Simon is realistic in his assessments. He may shine a little light on the dark side of the scuba diving world, but he does this in order to illuminate bad practice and encourage change while offering solutions. Great Audio Book!

As a new scuba diver, there’s a lot of info in here that doesn’t pertain to me… yet! However, it’s great to hear about technologies and scenarios where the teachings in this book would come in handy. If you want to be a prepared and knowledgeable diver from the start, I highly recommend starting with Scuba Confidential and then jumping straight into this book. After finishing both, I can’t wait to listen to more or just repeating these.

Simon writes with a wealth of knowledge on his subject and I have taken away something from everyone of his books that I believe will make me a better diver

I enjoyed this book as I did the other two before it that I listened to. I have gone from just curious about Scuba diving to getting my open water certification while listening these books

Wonderful sequel to Scuba Confidential

This is an excellent read/listen for anyone who is looking to make their diving safer and more enjoyable. Definitely a great place to start for anyone considering further study into dive physiology or technical diving. His writing technique is very entertaining and focused on giving real life examples of the learning points. He wraps up every section with a quick one line recap of each of the safety points. These books have definitely made me a better diver and safer diver.
