Started me out to the series...

So I was following an Audible recommendation and purchased this boxset. I was quite surprised that I actually liked it. I've already finished this series, went back to the original series, and I'm about to finish that off, listening to book 21 as I write this review. Honestly, I actually like Justin Sloan's writing a bit better, sorry Michael if your reading this, not complaining as I'm already 21 deep in your solo's. Since this is the book that got me hooked, I can't say enough about the story. It really made me listen to all 8 books in order and I didn't stop. Looking forward to the next stages, and hope to pick up some more of Justin Sloan's solo's as well, but it might be awhile.

not what I expect

I did not enjoy listening to Kate Rudd. She did not get the accents right.

Loved Valerie and thoroughly enjoyed this set

I travel a lot and listen to box sets or longer books. This one did not disappoint. I have listened to it a couple of times. The introduction to the main character Valerie was well done, with a good amount of back story. I also liked how characters crossed over from other story lines. Well worth the listen.

Entertaining

Absolutely enjoyed listening to vampire Valerie kicking butts and changing society for the better. Michael makes a brief appearance in book 1 and Akyo and Yuko make a longer appearance in book 2. The narrator did a great job with providing unique voices for each character and appropriate tone inflections for each scene!
