Publisher's summary

Jackman and Evans are back in the latest gripping thriller by Joy Ellis, performed by the incomparable Richard Armitage.

Jackman’s sister-in-law Sarah disappears to London and throws herself into the river. What drove her to this? She was a woman with a seemingly happy homelife and two beloved sons. DI Jackman and DI Evans dig into Sarah’s life. And Jackman realises he knew almost nothing about his sister-in-law’s past.

Then, they discover a woman in a neighbouring village died in similar circumstances. What is the connection to a convicted murderer whose family are convinced he is innocent? Who is really pulling the strings?

Another winner from Joy Ellis!

Just as with her nine novel DI Nikki Galena series British author Joy Ellis has another wonderful series modern detective with Jackman and Evans. The Guilty Ones is a fine addition to the Jackman and Evans series. Actor Richard Armitage does a nice job of narrating, but I much prefer the narrations of Henrietta Meire due to her Fens British accent compared to the generic British accent of Armitage. In any case the modern detective series by Joy Ellis are always worthwhile.

My favorite one yet

I set a personal record in finishing this title in 3 nights, even staying up way too late on weeknights to keep listening. I'm impatiently waiting for Book 5 (The Stolen Boys) to come out!

This book is pleasant enough, and I wanted to love it.

I enjoy the characters in the Jackman and Evans books, but the plots are a bit weak, predictable, and frankly, unbelievable. But I’ll keep reading Ms. Ellis’ work, as I really like the narrator and the stories are pleasant enough. They are easy to read (or listen to) although I prefer not being given so much information. I’d like to see more red herrings and being left to figure out a few things.

Wonderfully terrifying!

Really an in depth, hang on every word, book. I like this one the best so far. As usual narration was suburb.

Step in the right direction!

Loved the first two books, didn't really like the third, but this one comes back to where I think the series belongs. Great story, great new characters and they all seem to be their natural selves. I loved it all the way through and didn't have to slog through it like I did in the Fourth Friend. I have a single complaint. I found the ending predictable and cliché. As soon as I hit the last chapter I knew what was coming and was hoping I was wrong. Still a great book though. Starting the next one right now!
