Publisher's summary

Turn the phone off, lock yourself away, and give your mind the holiday it deserves from the cares and stresses of this world when you read the latest volume of cult author Tom Slemen’s Haunted Liverpool. It is always an event when Tom publishes a new book and this one is definitely no exception. In this chilling volume of more than 30 chapters - with many chapters containing more than one story - you will meet the Faceless Bride of Lime Street and you will also be introduced to Anfield’s unknown ghostly woman before visiting the creepy establishment known as The Devil’s Arms, where everything is just too good to be true. You will not find the usual hackneyed stories of supernatural cliché in this volume; you will find extraordinary and sometimes surreal terror lurking that will play on your mind and possibly inspire a nightmare or two.

You will be greeted by the terrifying Tickler - a bizarre entity which attempts to tickle his victims to death, and you will learn about the Yovar - a race of ancient beings who are said to be even more evil than the Devil. There are accounts of timeslips in this amazing book and tales of witchcraft, possession and nercomancy; furthermore, you will listen to two spine-chilling accounts of haunted sleepovers and an unearthly story about two strange deities who resurrected a heroin addict. Lose yourself in the uncanny story of the teenager who fell in love with a satyr, but peruse the chapter on omens of death at your own risk, and do not dwell too long on the unsettling accounts of the ghost that gets around - the Night Maiden - or she may pay you a visit. These are just some of the terrors you will encounter in Haunted Liverpool 30....

Frightening awesome tales of horror

The tales in this book are frightening to say the least. The stories are very descriptive to the point I do not listen to them in the dark. The sound effects and narration of Nigel Peever only add to the ambiance of fear. I just love this series. If you love horror I highly recommend that you read this series you will get to love it too. I received this review copy at my request and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review because I really enjoyed these tales of horror.

Good Variety of Haunting Tales

Quite a mixed bag of haunting stories. They are all over the map on type of story so you get a nice variety. As with any large collection of short stories, you get a spectrum of ones you like and ones you could skip over. Slemen is able to craft some really great stories and they are a lot of fun to listen to. I especially liked how they span a large timeline so you get a lot of different types of paranormal hauntings.

Big fan of Nigel Peever and this was the first time I heard him narrate a Haunted Liverpool and he outdoes his self with his production. As often with Peever’s narration, his many voices makes me think there is more than one narrator and I really enjoy all of his accents. He had one voice that reminded me of Nanny from Count Duckula, just a hoot to listen to. All the extra sound effects added to the story and made it a wonderful listen.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

An Interesting Collection of Short Stories

First let me say that this is an enhanced audiobook, so if that isn't your cup of tea then don't bother. I enjoyed listening to this collection of short stories. The stories are quite diverse but were entertaining. If you like hearing various haunting and paranormal stories then you should pick this book up. The narration was superb, as always. I absolutely love Nigel Peever's narrations. He really brings the stories to life with the enhancements as well as the myriad of different voices and their emotions he gives each character! Overall, a very enjoyable set of stories to help you escape the hum drum of day to day life. I look forward to listening to more of the Haunted Liverpool series.

good

This was entertaining. Some stories were spooky and a few were terrifying. A good mixed collection that held my interest start to finish. The one with the ex gf giving cake to her ex was just karma for her and made me laugh. I have a dark sense of humor. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing it to life.
