Publisher's summary

Falling in love with his partner’s little sister was never part of the plan.

There was an order to James Marsden’s future: Get a job as an Indianapolis cop, work his way up to detective, and then find a nice girl and start a family. He never planned on walking into a diner his first day as a rookie cop and for her to blow his entire time line to smithereens.

When Marie Griffen’s older brother, Steve, introduced her to his new trainee, she was instantly drawn to his shy demeanor and blushing face. Only she couldn’t act on her feelings even if she wanted to. Steve wanted her to date someone with a normal job - that wasn’t his partner. Marie just wanted to live her own life without her older brother watching over her.

Marie and James must decide if this off-limits romance is worth the risk or if the consequences are too much for either of them to bear.

Short and sweet

This is a short novella that acts as an intro for the Fairfield Corners series.
The characters are likable and the story did it's job and grabbed my attention enough.
I will be interesting to see where the rest of the series goes.

Nice, Entertaining Short Story

I think the main complaint with this one, is that there's not quite enough of it. Another 1 hour or so would have been awesome. I listened to this with my partner, who is more into romance novels than me, and she loved it. I thought it was pretty good too. The narration is top quality and the story is well paced and well written. It's clear that this is preparation for a longer series and I suspect you'll be keen to see where things go when you get to the end. Please note: I asked for and was given a review copy. However, this doesn't influence my rating - the opinion is all my own.

Picturesque Fairfield Corners

Loving Marie: A Fairfield Corners Prequel is a swift listen that is an introduction to the picturesque Fairfield Corners. This novella sets the tone for this series and takes place in Indianapolis. James Marsden a rookie police officer &
Marie Griffen a waitress and sister of James new rookie cop trainer will navigate through their affections in this off-limits romance. With a first kiss, misinterpretations, and sweet moments a brisk glimpse of what's to come. We are introduced to supporting character's who I think have their own books or at least in the other books. These supporting character's bring a arresting tone to the romance.

Told by third person pov the narrator tone and pace flows through smoothly and the voice interpretation of a cop was determinate.

Definitely a unique prequel

I haven't read the series that this prequel is based in, so all I can review is this small offering.
The audiobook is a little over an hour long and definitely packs a lot of story into a small package.
What made this audiobook stand out for me was the use of sound effects along with the narrator. From door slams, bells ringing to soda being poured, you hear it all.
Other than that, it's a nice setup for a larger story arc.

Marie and James

James is taken by Marie when he first meets her but she is his partner's sister so he is off limits. James becomes a manwhore instead of confronting Marie or even Steve, her brother. This short story has plenty of misunderstandings. The story ended with HFN. It would have been great if it were a little longer to find out what happens but it does whet your appetite for more. Eddie Leonard did a great job with the narration. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Good Start to series

This was the first to a series. I really liked the flow. The over protective brother sure did cause a lot of problems. I was glad they found their way back to each other by the end. Looking forward to the rest in the series, Eddie did a great job narrating.
