Publisher's summary

He was my best friend, my first love, and now he's my fake boyfriend....

Nick knows omegas are supposed to be meek and obedient, but he must have been standing in the wrong line when those qualities were being handed out. After losing his job again for not keeping his mouth shut, he heads home to small town Maine to hang with family and stuff himself on Thanksgiving turkey.

Or that’s the plan until he wakes up one night, his heart racing with the certainty that his brother is in danger. Nick needs to protect Rhys, but his twin married into a cult that permits no unmated omegas to enter its gated communities. To get inside, Nick needs a mate - a fake one, because he has no interest in a real one. Unfortunately, the only alpha he’d trust with his brother’s safety is also the one he’d most like to avoid - his childhood sweetheart.

Zander’s life is full. By day, he runs his bookstore; by night, he writes steamy romance novels, and he’s happy that way. If only he could stop his parents’ matchmaking, his life would be perfect. Or so he thinks, until his first love approaches him with an impossible favor to ask. And maybe they could both win - Nick rescues his brother, and Zander gets his parents off his back for a while.

It’s supposed to be an easy mission, no feelings involved, but when the lines blur between what’s real and what’s pretend, things start to heat up - between the sheets and otherwise.

Zander & Nick

I love this story and really enjoyed listening to it. Zander and Nick get a second chance at love when Nick comes back to town and needs a fake husband in order to be able to visit his twin brother. As they spend time together, all the old feelings resurface and bloom into so much more. Zander and Nick have great chemistry and a strong bond. I really like that they are not your typical alpha and omega. The narrator did an excellent job with the story and with all of the character voices. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

A Not So Fake Relationship for Childhood Besties

Omega Nick has been secretly in love with alpha Zander since they were childhood best friends. Now reunited years later, those unrequited feelings burn hot, for both of them.

A fake relationship agreement between friends provides the gateway to exploring those unspoken feelings, and it's a sweet if largely straightforward ride toward their HEA.

There's a hint of Nick being demisexual, as he's only ever been attracted to Zander and observes how doesn't respond to other alphas the way omega typically do, but it isn't really addressed as such. And true to the series, there is an mpreg/baby factor at play, though neither MC has any real aspiration of becoming a parent until it happens.

Narrator John Solo has consistently delivered engaging performances throughout this series, and continues to do so here.

Fake Relationships / My favourite trope

Nick and Zander - best friends who have drifted apart.

I love this story and John Solo was wonderful. I love how the Alpha / Omega personalities seem to have switched. This is just the most lovely book.

Fake It Til Its Real

While there are some serious overtones featuring Nick and his brother this story when focused on the relationship between Nick and Zander is full of fun. They reconnect and then like the plot from one of Zander's stories the move into the "fake" relationship to serve their own purposes. But just like a romance novel the fake is more real than they are willing to admit. And from there things just seem to take on a life of its own. I love Nick's caring and Zander's willingness to be a different kind of alpha.

love it!

The Omega's Fake Mate is the fourth book in Ann-Katrin Byrde's Oceanport Omegas series. It is a wonderful take on the fake relationship turns real trope. Nick and Zander use to be best friends but were separated in middle school. Reuniting, brings back the friendship and also the attraction. When a situation arises that calls for a fake relationship, who else do you turn to but the best friend you always felt made for. These characters are great... I love them together. Sweet, cute and just enough of sexy. Perfect together. The story is fun, sweet and gave me feels. Truly enjoyable and wonderful for the Oceanport series.

Narration is done by John Solo and it's amazing. I got lost in the story with the help of the smooth voice that brought the characters perfectly to life. The voice I heard matched what I envisioned when I read the book. Perfect.

fake mate or fated

Nick and Zander being thrilled into close proximity to rescue Rhys was the perfect catalyst to let old feelings heat up and grow. Nothing better than friends to lovers trope and a second chance adds to the heart tugging for me.
I love this Oceanport crew and look forward to more of them. They're addictive . I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job bringing it to life.
