Publisher's summary

Six weeks after my father passed away I discovered a lump in my breast. I was terrified as I embarked on the road of cancer treatment, but it's amazing what you can get used to. At the time I shared little with others beyond my close family, but today I'm ready to share my story to help other women have strength to go through treatment. You are much stronger than you think you are.

All money raised by the author from the sale of this audiobook will go towards yarn and materials for creating Knitted Knockers, special handmade breast prosthesis for women who have undergone mastectomies or other procedures to the breast.

Thank you

I applaud your bravery in sharing your story with the world. You don’t sugarcoat it, but rather tell it like it is.

Thank you also to Fiona Thraille for giving this story the voice it deserves.

Thank you

I have come to really enjoy books written by Debbie Manber Kupfer. This book hits really close to home for me. Last year I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I did not need to go through chemo or radiation, but had a double mastectomy. Listening to Debbie’s experiences and thoughts through the process of diagnosis, surgery, etc made me realize once again how lucky we are to have so much knowledge in how to great breast cancer and how lucky I am to have so much family support. Thank you for putting a hard experience into words that can be shared in such a poignant way.

Self exam is a life saver.

The Big C. My worst fear. I've had a couple scares, but dodged the diagnosis. My fear is actually the nausea. I HATE that feeling! Debbie hasn't helped me in this respect. She states it is BAD!
But, way to go Debbie. You've made it and are telling us how it is. Thanks. Self exam is a life saver!
I listened to Audible version. And it was well told.

Superb short look into life diagnosed w cancer

I came across Debbie Manber Kupfer & narrator Fionna Thraille through StoryOrigin.

This is
1- A very short listen
2- A very Personal experience
3- Well Written & Well narrated.
4- Worth plugging in between any of your longer listens.
Thank you Debbie for being willing to share your cancer experience with us. I had a brother die of Cancer more than 20 years ago. Any way I can still connect with him is meaningful to me.
In listening to the book, I initially thought "Wait a second, the author is from St. Louis." But then I looked her up & saw she's a British Ex-pat living in St. Louis, So Fionna Thraille was a perfect choice for the narration.
I would read & listen to more work by either of them.

I received a free copy of this audiobook & the views I've expressed in this review are my own.

A Survivor's Story

This memoir is Debbie Manber Kupfer's account of her fight against breast cancer. We join her through treatment and surgery on her way to survivor. I found it to be well-written and inspirational. Fiona Thraille's narration adds dimension to the matter-of-fact telling of the story. Kupfer uses her story to illustrate the importance for breast cancer awareness and early detection. Recommended.

I requested a review copy of the memoir, This is my unbiased review.

" God with Skin On"

Thank you Debbie......This line below, from another read, came to mind......
The little boy said, "I know God loves me, but right now, I need somebody who has skin on." ... You were that person with skin on, walking among us and showing us the way thru a difficult and scary situation..God always seems to show up when we need Him. Praying for you continued wellness.
