Sweet & Charming Romance

This was a really cute story where in a girl is accused of being a flirt and ostracized. A kind gentleman comes to her rescue and agrees ultimately to a ruse to help her save face And for him to meet his father’s requirements in purchasing a property. Of course there winds up being some confusion and misunderstanding but ultimately love and romance conquers all with very likable H/h. The narration was also very well done.

Fabulous!!

I have really started enjoying audible books immensely and this story by Suzanne G Rogers is a prime example of what makes this medium so spectacular! The narrator Helen Taylor was brilliant in bringing the characters alive with her voices and subtle changes of emotions and language. I adored Philip and Kitty. She just wanted to marry for love and her family was pressuring her to just get married. She has been labeled a flirt and the last suitor she turned down is spreading rumors about her and she gets the cut from society.
Philip is a second son who trying to buy a property from his father so he can have something of his own and make it a success. But is father will only do the deal if he shows he is ready to settle down and marry so he needs to find a lady pronto.
When the man she spurned starts trouble, Philip steps in to save Kitty and one thing leads to another and they start a ruse of being engaged. That "ruse" creates all king of havoc and it seems they may be getting wed for real! Loved, Loved, Loved this story and could not wait for the second Beaucroft sister's story!

Delightful Listen!

I really enjoyed listening to this romance. The premise of causing a scandal to avoid a scandal was unique. I loved the attraction of Kitty and Phillip from the very beginning. Suzanne G. Rogers is a new author to me, while I've listened to and enjoyed Helen Taylor previously. The characters had depth and substance. I loved how Kitty didn't want to settle with a marriage or conform to society dictates. The premise of marrying for love was not typical of the times in this book. I found the machinations and contrivances to be very interesting in this book. The banter in this book was great too! I wish the story would have included exactly what the Grandmother said to Kitty , but the line that was included had me laughing out loud. I hope the next book in this series comes out in audio as I want to hear what happens next. This book is a standalone listen and features a HEA. I hope the author writes more stories about these wonderful characters! The narrator did a wonderful performance with her distinguishable voices for the various characters. I will definitely listen to more books by both author and narrator in the future.

Sweet Romance!

Kitty had turned down every offer of marriage she had received. After the last one left in a mad rush, her father told her if she had not excepted one by the next ball, she would be leaving London to go to his mothers in the country to live. At the ball all of the men turned their backs on her and she fled the room. She went to a room that she thought that was empty. She saw a man setting in a chair half dressed reading a book. It startled her so bad, she fell flat and started crying. It was Lord Phillip Butler and he came to her defense. He dressed and went down to the ball to dance with her. Then the story goes into twists and turns. The narrator did a great job.

Delightful regency tale

I really love this book! Ruse and Romance is a clean historical romance set in 1845 in England. It's a refreshing story, beautifully written with engaging characters. And the story is complete with a beautiful HEA. Looking forward to listening the next book (Juliet's story) in the series.

Good

Enjoyable story. My disappointments were in the repetitive, over-lengthy internal ruminations that are so prevalent in these types of books. Thank goodness for faster speeds. Otherwise, this is worth listening to.

Good narration and storyline

This could have been an excellent story hand it not been for the addition of the drama that lasted over an hour of the book right before ending. No added thrill, only irritation was the end result for me. Other than that it was very enjoyable
