A determined Scottish lady

Seonaid Ferguson, a lady of Craiglocky Keep, is through with London's Marriage Mart. After learning she has the second sight, the haut ton attempts to exploit her abilities. Even though it means she condemns herself to spinsterhood, Seonaid sets a desperate course to rid herself of her gift turned curse. As she rushes home from England, a snowstorm strands her in a crowded inn with the last man she ever wished to see again. A handsome French baron who once thought her a courtesan. And just her misfortune, only he stands between her and certain harm.

An honorable French nobleman

Jacques, Monsieur lebaron de Devaux-Rousset, ventures to Scotland to oversee his new investment; a silver mine near Craiglocky. Only a handsome profit will save his family's destitute estate in France. But when the mine is beset with one problem after another, Jacques must instead search for an heiress to wed. He certainly should not be falling in love with the lovely, spirited sister of Laird Ewan MacTavish, a lass whose dowry is insufficient to restore his ancestral home. Nor should he consider, even for a moment, her risqué, but deliciously tempting scheme to rid her of the second sight. A danger most dire

Matters are torn from their hands when a dangerous adversary vows to expose Seonaid as a witch, just as Jacques's problems at the mine escalate into deadly violence. Is it by chance, or a dark design, that both of them are beset at once? Dare Jacques and Seonaid throw caution aside and forge a future together?

Second Sight

When Jacques and Seonaid met in France, she was not impressed. They are thrown together by a storm as they each travel to Scotland; she home from a dismal Season and he to investigate a recent investment. As they travel and once they arrive at Craiglocky, they realize they don’t really dislike each other at all. However, in order to turn their attraction to true love and a happily ever after, they must first deal with the weather, his need for money to rescue his estate in France, her desire to rid herself of her second sight, an overprotective brother, and an insanely weird evil vicar who seems determined to burn Seonaid at the stake for being a witch; oh yeah, and an explosion. That seems almost insurmountable, but maybe not impossible.

Scandal’s Splendor is a wonderful Highland romance with a Continental flair. It has some mystery, a good dose of humor, and a surprise or two. The story is all that you expect from Collette, strong characters, sharp, witty dialogue, and a story that flows smoothly along holding your attention from start to finish.

It was a pleasure to listen to David Monteath read this book. He has a rich smooth voice and moved from one accent to another without a hitch.

I was gifted the audio version of this book. The review is all mine.

Wonderful

A wonderful tale of a Frenchman trying to save his family estate and a woman from the Scottish Highlands who has a gift of seeing the future. When they meet and he spends time at her family estate, they fall in love. But with his estate in the balance and danger afoot he will push her away. But when life or death becomes an issue true love will show itself. Loved the narrator, great voice and spoke a French accent very well.

Amazing Listen!

I absolutely loved this story! It is a little longer so it was very hard to stop and do other things, I just wanted to keep listening. It this story we get to learn more about Seonaid and Jacques and how they first met. I loved their story together and their own individuals stories. This book had so many emotions that I felt like I was right there along with the characters. The narration was amazing and helped me to distinguish the characters as so as "they" were speaking. It was a wonderful story that was filled with emotion, heartbreak, lust, love, mystery, and danger. I would definitely recommend it!!!

Honor and duty, then love

I did not want to stop listening to this story! I fell in love with both Seonaid and Jacques, their desires, their wishes, and their understanding of their roles in life. There were some tears, racing hearts, and smiles as they found their happiness together. I loved this story and highly recommend it, whether in print or on audio. David's narration brought everyone alive for me.

I received a copy of the audiobook as a gift, and this is my unsolicited review.

True love revealed

Scandal’s Splendor ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️by Collette Cameron

As a loyal reader of Ms Cameron, I have waited for Seonaid Ferguson’s story and have not been disappointed. Seanad has always been a special person, having the second sight being one of her gifts but her heart open to care and love for both people and animals as a healer.

In a hope of marriage, Seonaid goes to London only to realize people would exploit her gift as a seer. In her haste, Seonaid leaves to return back to her home resigned to her life as a spinster. It is on this return trip Seonaid runs into Jacques an impoverished French baron. Her past meeting with him was quite disturbing to her and she does not relish his company.

Ms Cameron has mixed an intriguing potion filled with affection, mystery and danger. I enjoyed this story immensely and would highly recommend it.

Wonderfully written and narrated story

Wow! I absolutely loved this story. David Monteath does an incredible job of narrating this breathtaking story written by Cameron. The characters are so unique - some are absolutely hysterically funny. There is everything you could want in a historical romance - passion, heartache, some comedy. I can't wait to read more of Cameron's works.

An enthralling story

The two main characters, Seonaid and Jacques, have a second chance meeting whilst stranded in a snow storm. Even though there is an attraction between them, circumstances make it impossible for anything to come of it. There are some delightful family members, the despicable Rev. Fletcher to add to the drama of the story, an element of danger, not to mention Seonaid’s special gift. This is a story you will want to continue listening to. David Monteath, certainly adds to it with his narration. He uses different voices to bring the characters to life and his voice is very easy to listen to. I was given a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it.

another wonderfully written and read story

Having read many of Ms Camerons books ,it was a pleasure to listen to one. The joy of listening to a story takes me back to my childhood. I so enjoyed the different accents, they bring the story so much to life. And as usual I loved the story line, with suspense, mystery and of course romance. The story flowed beautifully as always.
