To get the very best from this second part of Sabrina and Donovan's Duet I went back to the beginning and listened to Dirty Filthy Rich Men again (no hardship there). And I'm so glad I did.. partly to refresh, reboot and get reacquainted once again with all the players and partly to jog my mind of the many intricacies held within Laurelin Paige's epic love story. A story of intense sexual attraction, possessive obsession, masterful manipulation and raw carnal desire. A story of rich men, power and passion. A story of an innocent pawn who gets caught up in a rich man's game. And thankfully this second book has all the wonderful ingredients from book 1 plus a whole lot more.. and that, for me, makes an addictive and memorable listen.

Ten years have passed by since Sabrina, Donovan and Weston were at College - a lot has changed.. and yet nothing has changed. Sabrina has a successful job in advertising which she's worked hard for yet she yearns for Donovan's touch.. and Donovan and Weston are masters of their own fates in a company owned and run by them. However, behind the scenes, strings are being pulled, plans are being made, a course is being set and futures are being shaped - and Sabrina is again the unsuspecting pawn caught up in a rich man's game.. but what a deliciously twisted game it is. Because droolworthy Donovan doesn't yet realize that, by steering Sabrina's Fate, he's set them both on a collision course with Destiny.

For me, this story was so addictive because I never knew what was coming next or where this talented author was going to lead me as I fell deeper and deeper under her spell. And slowly she reveals life-changing secrets.. shocking revelations.. heartfelt reactions.. and electrifying scenarios are masterfully unfurled as Sabrina and Donovan finally get their HEA. Their's was a push/pull volatile relationship, a two steps forward/one back game, a perfectly imperfect couple who were perfect for each other and in the end it led to a deep all-consuming passionate love. Multi-layered characters, a broken yet possessive alpha hero who loves fiercely, a strong heroine who fights for what she wants, seismic combustible chemistry, kink, heat and heart make up this hugely entertaining love story. Told from the heroine's POV and Elena Wolfe did a great job at bringing it to life.. but sadly there just wasn't enough Sebastian York.

Worth a credit? A million x YES.. I devoured it, I lived and breathed it and I couldn't put it down. It was DIRTY, it was FILTHY, he was RICH and it was an intense and epic LOVE story beautifully crafted.. so ding ding ding color me happy.

Loved it almost as much as the first one, I only wish it was longer! Love the narrator (though I could do without Sebastian York in the epilogue). I want more from this series!

Very steamy!

Forgot to mention in my review of #1 how incredibly sexy the scenes between Donovan & Sabrina were and the same is true for this second book, Laurelin Paige writes hot af scenes :)

This picks up where the first book left off. It is obvious that Sabrina and Donovan are meant to be together. He is battling with his inner demons and trying to make sense of how much he cares about and thinks about Sabrina. She has gotten completely under his skin. However, admitting this to her is not something that comes easy to him.

We all know how arrogant & dominant he can be but so much more is revealed about his controlling personality. Sabrina is left reeling and astounded at the lengths Donovan has gone to and will go to protect himself and in his own way her.

Sabrina feels completely played and wonders how she ever thought she knew him when now she feels like she never knew him at all. She has never felt more hurt, violated and alone.

Donovan has a lot of work ahead of him if he thinks he will ever have a chance to make things right with Sabrina. Sabrina comes a long way in this story too, she is learning to compromise in an effort to understand this complex man that she has fallen in love with.

A really different read and I will definitely be checking out Weston & Elizabeth's story :)

Fitting Conclusion

The conclusion was a crazy ride of a story, but one I'm glad a read. The controlling, alpha male attitude was on point and every move Donovan made exuded his powerful demeanor. Sabrina was the definition of hard luck and how to make some out of grapes, although she did eventually find out not all of the,events in her life were left to fate. And just when you think you have it figured out, more twists appear, all the way to the end.

I'm excited to read more in the "dirty filthy rich" world. There are so many more stories to tell I'm sure.

Disturbing but unforgettable!

I thought the first book in this series was mind blowing but the revelations behind Donovan’s machinations are just starting to be revealed as the steamy and sometimes disturbing sexual shenanigans continue between him and Sabrina. While I understand the context of the story I feel that the trauma from Sabrina’s past combined with her forbidden desire for Donovan should have come with a trigger warning because parts of this story were disturbing for me. Yes, it’s true that no one should be shamed for their consensual sexual kinks but Sabrina’s coping mechanisms are deeply disturbing. I tried to experience the story through Sabrina’s skewed perspective and have to add that while the storytelling is darkly compelling, obsessive and really kinky, it’s also unforgettable. I listened to the audiobook and have nothing but praise for Elena Wolfe’s performance because she perfectly portrayed Sabrina’s insecurities, her trauma and her love for Donovan’s controlling personality.

Great except could do without the male narrator at the end. Maybe I just don’t like his voice or how he acts but wasn’t feeling it.
