Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author Ben Shapiro's new novel asks how close are we to our country's collapse - and will we be able to stop it once it begins?

America is coming apart. An illegal immigration crisis has broken out along America's Southern border, there are race riots in Detroit, a fiery female rancher-turned-militia leader has vowed revenge on the president for his arrogant policies, and the world's most notorious terrorist is planning a massive attack that could destroy the United States as we know it. Meanwhile the president is too consumed by legacy-seeking to see our country's deep peril.

Brett Hawthorne is the youngest general in the United States Army - and he's stuck, alone, behind enemy lines in Afghanistan. He's the last lost soldier of a failed war, fighting to stay alive and make it back home - but will he be able to stop the collapse of America in time?

Great Story, Awful Narration

The narrator annoyed me enough that when the sequel is released, I won't be listening unless there is a change.

The mild dramatization of the narrator enhances

Based on listening to this book completely (2 times through), I feel confident recommending this book for its drama and its war story-telling. The war occurs both on foreign soil and domestic.

Excellent, albeit terrifying book!

Narrator was a little irritating because he kept using a long "A" sound for the article "a". Other than that he seemed decent. The story is excellent, although hearing it leaves one generally worried for the direction this country is headed. Fortunately, this is just fiction and we still have time to fix the country if we are careful!

Great story; horrible narrator

Ben Shapiro's first novel was engaging and well written. Here's hoping there is a sequel in the works. Unfortunately, the narrator is one of the worst I've heard. Character portrayals were average but his voice when serving as the narrator was awful and distracting.

Great story, terrible reader.

The story is excellently written. Mr. Shapiro has penned a fast-paced novel with great characters and cutting edge issues.i can't wait for his next one.

However, Mr. Quinteros is one of the worst professional readers I've listened to. He puts pauses in the wrong place and emphasized the wrong words in sentences. It makes for a very choppy, awkward listen. He tries to do different voices and accents but falls flat on that also. He may be fine for non-fiction books but clearly is not a good choice for a drama. It was painful to listen to him.

Great read

This was a frustratingly fantastic book! I don’t know how it’s possible to love and hate something at the same time! Lol

couldn't make it more than a few minutes

I read the book, but narrator's horrible cadence sounded robotic. couldn't make it five minutes.

Must Read

The narration is captivating and fun.

The storyline keeps you on your toes the entire time.

A dystopian look into the not too distant future, of how America could degenerate if we distance ourselves from our values, and from common sense.

Good story, but

I stopped listening to the book several times as I found it difficult listening to the narrator's voice. In my humble opinion it is better suited for a children's book.

That said I look forward to the next book, hopefully with a different narrator.
