Surprising!

This book took some surprising turns! Action packed from start to finish, it's a completely believable story which takes place in an amazingly detailed universe. The narrator did a phenomenal job with differentiating the voices of the different characters, so they were easily recognizable. I can't wait for the rest of this series to be made into audio.

Definitely hooked on this fantasy series!

Fantastic author complemented by an extraordinary voice performer. Todd's range of voices is nothing short of genius!
Can't wait for the rest of the series to be narrated by Todd!
Gonna go buy ebook part 3 right now...even though it's only 4:46am.

Dragon book 2

Great follow up, great story. Fantastic narrator. I love how the characters develop. There were a few spots where the story lagged, but overall I enjoyed the book. Can't wait for book 3.

A nice follow up

This was a great follow up. I loved getting to know the other worlds. Others have said this slows the book down but I really enjoyed it. I felt as though it brought more depth to the book and a potential catalyst for future events.

I also have a new favorite narrator! Todd Menesses does an excellent job. There is a lot of distinction between characters and I know immediately who is speaking. I look forward to hearing more of his work in the future.

Even better than the first book

Would you listen to The Dragon's Eyes again? Why?

I would yes. There is such an interesting story and interesting events going on I'm sure I missed a few things the first listen through. I always relisten to books, and this will be on my list to throw into the mix. I love longer books, more enjoyable.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I still love Dylan and Ed, as well as Davina. Shinobo (spelling?) is mentioned a few times. I want a squirrel cat so bad.

Have you listened to any of Todd Menesses’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

yes and I love how many voices he does! I try to do some of them and I just cant do it. So many accents, so many pitches and changes. I think he was the perfect person for this job. I need to find all the audio books he does and listen to them all. I'm wildly entertained with his voice work.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

no, it's over 19 hours I have been listening to it when I fall asleep at night and to and from work, as well as on my pokemon adventures.

Any additional comments?

I hope there is a 3rd book, I like the worlds and the books idea and the signing of them. So many interesting things going on with magic and other worlds. So much could happen in the future with more books.

Rain NEVER Disappoints!

Another awesome title to add to my Rain Oxford collection. I never thought that I would really be able to get into the genre, but I absolutely love it! I have enjoyed every title in this author's collection. Most of Rain's works are pretty lengthy, so you really get to nestle in and enjoy a good adventurous story. The Guardian Series is fast paced, has just the right amount of creepiness for this genre and is superbly written. Todd Menesses does a great job narrating the audiobook, as usual, and I think that he and Rain make a great team.

This is definitely a good one to settle into over a weekend when you just want to veg out. But I know that I would have enjoyed it on a long road trip as well. Check Rain out if you haven't already and you only stumbled upon this title. But, definitely start with book one in the series.

Rain, add this one to the list of those titles you should feel proud of! Bravo!

Good development but way too much detail

I love character development, I love world building but the level of detail and dialogue in theses books is exhaustive. Not enough action and way too much of what people thought and the minute details of what they are eating and the origin of that food blah blah blah. Very good performance but I felt like I wanted more.

Too shallow

The concept of the story, magic system etc is great. But the writing is to shallow and simplistic. After reading the Stormlight archive, Wheel of time, cycle of Aaron etc witch are very rich and complex stories, this one fell really short. The first book was much better and I could forgive the gaps and lack of complexity hopping for a better development in the books to come, but this book, the second one, is worse. Probably won’t be reading the next ones that shows up,

Finally, great idea for a story, but not well executed at all.
