Publisher's summary

When Talia Lyons was just a child, her parents were murdered before her eyes. Offered a choice between accepting their fate and exacting revenge, Talia trains to become one of the country's deadliest assassins in order to kill the man responsible for their deaths: Ian Crane. Luckily, Talia was born with a gift - the ability to read and influence the minds of others.

At 16, Talia is poised to graduate from the McDonough School for the Talented, where she learned to control her abilities. Now there is only one obstacle standing between her and the retribution she craves...Talia, herself.

Her greatest asset may also be her undoing; while a formidable weapon in the field, Talia's talents prevent her from both shutting off the mental connection she shares with her questionable boyfriend and blocking out the thoughts of a beguiling fellow recruit. But Talia can't afford to have the feelings and distractions of a normal teenage girl, when her life is far from normal. She must regain the single-minded determination that has brought her this far, or it may cost Talia her life when she finally faces Crane. And even after being molded in to a weapon of war, she'll still have to find the strength it takes to pull the trigger.

If James Bond and Sookie Stackhouse had a love child with a yearning for vengeance, her story would be Talented, an adventure about powerful teenagers who aren't afraid to embrace their fears and fight for what they believe in.

Wowza!! I love it!!

Audio:
3.5 stars...The narrator was okay. When she used other female voices it had a high pitch. It was ear splitting, and I found it very annoying. Other than that, she was pleasant and did well narrating the main female character (until she was screaming at someone) as well as the guys.
Story:
5 stars...I was transported into this world and I felt that the author did a fabulous job world building and explaining the talented, etc. Great plots and twists!!
It does end in a good cliffhanger but thankfully book 2 is available. Can’t wait to see what happens next.

A really good action and adventure story

The story itself is really well written. It's about a teenage girl who witnessed her parents deaths when she was a young child. She wants revenge on those who murdered her family. She's taken to a place where she can train to be a highly trained warrior.

The narrator did ok. Sometimes she starts off in a high pitched voice, and then tries to sound seductive or something. Not something I personally like, but that's just me.

Like the others, I just can't get past it

The narrator isn't bad, she just doesn't match the story. She'd be great for Manga. You have the serious narrative voice then out of nowhere pops in the silly high pitched exaggerated voice that I just cannot take seriously.

great story , not so great narrator

the story itself is very interesting! It's sci-fi, it's romance, it's girl power. What's not to love!?

the narrator did not, However have the voice range for multiple characters. The voice she did choose to use was incredibly high-pitched and valley girl which did not suit the characters and their personalities at all. it was so bad I got a headache from her screaming... yes screaming. note screaming is not a way to depict emotion. screaming does not make a voice a different character. STOP SCREAMING AND SQUEALING IN A HIGH-PITCHED VALLEY GIRL ACCENT GOOD LORD. I had to dnf the audiobook and continue reading it on Kindle.

Voices

Why must the main character whine and have such a high pitch voice? It almost makes it difficult to listen to. The mental voice is so much more stronger – I wish that the voices were more similar...
