Hercules Hercules

This book is based on a story/history of Hercules as he really is or was. The good guys/girls who must work within the confines of a secret society to uphold and keep safe ancient legends. Add in bad guys who want to use histories relics and hidden archives to create some horrible "monsters". And you have something worth listening to/two.

I say that because, I did end up listening to this two times+ because there is a lot of information and background given in this first book. It starts out right away, so don't listen and do too much else because you may miss some things.

I am excited because I have another series of books to read from my fav's. The mix of Jeremy Robinson, Sean Ellis and Jeffrey Kafer can't be beat. Great writing, great narration.

Good story. Suffers from unprofessional narration.

The story is fairly solid if a bit "tropey". The narrator needs to look up the pronunciation of words he doesn't know, e.g. Hipolyte, Echidna, chthonic. This is especially true for words that are an important part of the story and are repeated dozens and dozens of times. It made me cringe every time and pulled me out of the story. Proper pronunciation is an important part of the job. Bad pronunciation seems embarassingly amateurish to me.

Another great story from Jeremy Robinson

I have yet to encounter a Jeremy Robinson story that wasn't worth listening to over and over. This one is another one of those.

This was a good,action b packed book.The Herculean group ws set up to protect the history of Hercules.When the Cerberous group find their way into the labrynth to steal relics for a long lived mad man,someone has to defend them.A fine twist of myth and history.Jeffrey Kafer was a good narator.

Warehouse 13 meets Greek mythology

Great story. Kept me involved and into it the whole time. The Herculean connection was fascinating and well developed. I hope the other novels have him in them. Interesting twists, great way of connecting the ancient world and

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, this book was a page turner, action, adventure and plot twists what more could you want.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the idea of this secret brotherhood protecting the world from itself. It's very "DaVinci Code" like and who doesn't love Greek mythology. I found myself really believing this society was real and had to remind myself that this was a work of fiction. It really had me asking, "what if..."

Which character – as performed by Jeffrey Kafer – was your favorite?

I really liked Fiona! What an interesting character. She's 18 and becoming a young woman, dealing with and overcoming adversity. She is a vulnerable yet strong female character.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

My favorite character returns. So glad he’s back! Interesting story as well. Jeremy Robinson never disappoints.

New series, favourite characters

Herculean brings back many favourite characters from the Chess Team series and gives them the chance to shine on their own. While most action thrillers depend on the team to be led by a spec-ops or some other form of military guy, it is so refreshing to see a team brought together and led by a scientist. We all remember George Pierce from the Chess Team universe, and he is now the head of the Herculean Society. Aided by Fiona and gathering up more team members as they go, we get the start of what will be a fantastic new series.

While this book is currently a standalone and can be read as such, fans of the Chess Team books will love this!!! Fans of Jeffrey Kafer's narration will not be disappointed

New world meets old in this fast-paced adventure

Hercules was known for many things throughout history -- stories of his power and conquests reached many. The Herculean Society's main goal is to continue the legacy of Hercules by not letting other uncover some of the most dangerous and worst things in the world.

Narration for Herculean was done by Jeffrey Kafer, who like always does an incredible job. Kafer really knows how to elevate books and make them even more enjoyable. Kafer makes Robinsons already awesome work even more awesome (yeah, I went there).

The start of this book really confused me, but don't be confused for long. It starts off in a bizarre place, but then quickly goes to the "current" time where the Herculean Society exists.

The group was a really awesome hodgepodge of people from different backgrounds making each new character that was introduced new and different. I love when an author can introduce numerous people but make the reader still feel like they know and understand each of them. Each new person had something different about them that made them both stand out and more interesting.

The book itself was fast-paced and really well written. I found myself being drawn deeper and deeper into the story as it progressed. Herculean grabs you by the haunches and won't let go. Mixing old-world myth with new world technology.

Robinson still gets to stretch his typical monster writing style here, but it is at a minimum compared to some of his other works.

I liked the war between good and the power hungry. Also liked those 1/2 plant 1/2 animal creations
