Jessie Kincaid doesn't plan to follow in his three older brothers' footsteps, which seems to include being bachelors. There might be twice as many men as women in their town, but there are still other ways to go about finding, or competing, for a wife.

Jessie begins writing Sarah Engle in hopes that she will become his mail order bride. Even though there are miles between them, he feels connected to her. He sends her money, along with a stage coach ticket, to come see him so that they can be married.

Not everyone is happy with their decision to wed. When the preacher said, till death do you part, did he mean literally? Or can a mail order bride and her groom truly have a happily ever after ending?

I was given this novelette in exchange for an honest review. This was only about an hour long, but that hour was more than enough time to get to know the main characters, Jessie and Sarah. Jessie sent off for Sarah to be his mail order bride. Sarah immediately headed his way, even though there was bound to be trouble from her father. Their sudden marriage also sparks comments from Jessie's family. Sarah and Jessie bond right away, but is it enough to withstand all the negatives from their families?
I found this novelette to be very enjoyable! The narration was very suitable for the story and easy to listen to.

Short but very enjoyable!

Narration - Jeff Harms - pretty good. He really has a lovely voice!

This is a cute little book - it's a short story that contains all the elements of a full length romance novel in compact (very quick) form. Young couple, forbidden love, get together, big misunderstanding, angsty near break-up, danger-danger, near death experience, bad guy gets his! Hea!

The author has designed these to be quick stories you can read in a single sitting while waiting on your kids, at the doctors, etc...to quickly get the full novel experience. I would actually be interested in continuing this series.

Compact romance

JESSIE'S BRIDE was a great Mail Order Brides story. It was probably the best one I've listened to although I like them all. These are clean romance novelettes. This one had a good twist toward the end. I didn't like Sarah's pa and was hoping he'd change but nope. SUSETTE WILLIAMS did a great job writing this short story and I hope to listen to MONTANA'S BRIDE as well. I liked the excerpt at the end.

JEFF HARMS is a new narrator for me and I loved his voice. He did a super job reading this story and had great voice inflections. I really enjoyed his performance and hope to hear more from him in the future. Great work from both.

I don’t usually read many books from this genre, but I really enjoyed this one. The narration brought the story to life and held my interest throughout. The story was well thought out, complete and will keep you listening. I will be watching for this author in the future.

I really liked the fact that it was clean. I just wish the author had taken the time to let you get to know each character better.

Sweetest Story

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No. More like a bedtime story

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Jesse and Marshall sound just like the other. I felt like I heard the exact same couple of paragraphs at the beginning of book 2.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I liked narrator Jeff Harms more than Mr. Yaklin. Unfortunately, neither narrator sounded like they really enjoyed the narration. I'm sure it was a tough narration since neither the characters nor the story lines were deeply developed by the author.

Do you think Mail Order Brides: Jessie's Bride needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

no

Any additional comments?
