Publisher's summary

When they met, Jessica O'Grady was a tall, starry-eyed Omaha, Nebraska co-ed in search of Mr. Right, Christopher Edwards was a deceitful and darkened soul. In May of 2006, Jessica's mystifying disappearance and a blood-soaked mattress turned into Nebraska's biggest news story. Enter Douglas County Sheriff's CSI stalwart Dave Kofoed, driven to solve high-profile murders, who in this case would lead to questions surrounding the forensic evidence used against Edwards.

Drew Me In From The Beginning

Such a sad story, but I was drawn in and listened intently to the end. I love Ferak's writing, and I find Kevin Pierce's narration is perfectly matched to this material. All in all, listening to Body of Proof was one of my better decisions in life.

True Crime Body Of Proof Love Triangle Murder

This is the account of the true crime story recounting the murder, evidence collection, trial of Jessica O'Grady in May 2006. In the aftermath of trial we learn of questionable procedures and an overzealous sheriff.

I thought that it was going to be a mystery so I was a little bit bummed when I found out within the first 15 minutes "whodunit"

However, this is a meticulous accounting of the CSI procedures, a potentially shady sheriff. I held on and continued to listen and I am really happy that I did.

The book cast a light in different directions and the end… Well you'll just have to listen to it!

Kevin Pierce is an excellent narrator who kept the material intriguing. While the descriptions of CSI protocol in recovering evidence could have been dull, he was able to engage and it made me stay interested.

I don't normally like to listen to real-life criminal books, it feels wrong to me. Especially given the victim was a young woman – torn from the headlines kind of book. However, *I agreed to listen to the book in exchange for this review, so I did. It is a book for anyone who is interested in true crime &/or taken from the headlines.

Note: After the description of Jessica O'Grady's violent murder there is nothing to warn about.

Interesting

Where does Body of Proof rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I've never listened to true story crimes until this one.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Body of Proof?

When he let the cops search his room.

Which character – as performed by Kevin Pierce – was your favorite?

He didn't really do the voices of the characters. So all of them I suppose?

If you could give Body of Proof a new subtitle, what would it be?

Raging hormones and murder in Omaha.

Any additional comments?

I wouldn't mind listening to something like this again soon.

Very good

Any additional comments?

Body of proof is a very well written, researched book. True real crime mystery reader will enjoy this book. I myself had hard time putting it down. It has 2 story going in same time one of the young girl Jessica and other one CSI lab agent Kafoed. Who would manufacture evidence and jeopardize cases to stay in limelight. I truly hope Edwards and whoever helped him grow conscience and truth come out.
I also enjoyed Kevin pierce deep voice and John Ferak writing.

True Crime

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I haven't read a lot of true crimes so I don't have much to compare it to but I did find myself losing interest in all the"facts" I guess I just enjoy fiction more.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Not a true crime!

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The story itself was interesting. But I felt more like I was reading a court report than a novel. I found that my mind wandered with all the facts being stated and couldn't immerse myself in the story. For someone who enjoys true crime, by all means give it a listen!

Do you think Body of Proof needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

No, it seems the topic was fully covered.

Gut-Wrenching

John Ferak unveils the cornucopia of evidence is the disheartening murder of a nineteen year old in Nebraska in 2006. The question posed in the book, did a CSI investigator who testified at trial and was later convicted of planting false evidence which landed two innocent men in jail, tamper with the evidence in this case? Christopher Edwards was convicted of second degree murder, but has appealed for a new trial. Jessica O'Grady's family has been seeking closure, as her body has never been found. I found "Body of Proof" compelling, and convincing that Edwards is responsible for O'Grady's death.
