So when an anonymous note warns, "Someone in this class is a witch," the students in 6B are nervous—especially the boy who's just discovered that he can cast spells and the girl who was named after the most famous witch of all. Witch Week features the debonair enchanter Chrestomanci, who also appears in Charmed Life, The Magicians of Caprona, and The Lives of Christopber Chant. Someone in the class is a witch. At least so the anonymous note says. Everyone is only too eager to prove it is someone else—because in this society, witches are burned at the stake.

One of the best in the Crestomanci series

This was probably my favourite in the crestomanci series that I’ve read thus far. Gerard Doyle does excellent narration.

I love Chrestomanci!

I love listening to these books while exercising. This is one of the best of them all!

So much fat phobia.

I love Diana Wynn’s Jones. I grew up reading every single one of her books. As an adult, I decided to reread them. While her story line is wonderful, her fat phobia was almost nauseating. I would never let my teen read this book. At one point, she goes on and on about a chubby girls body and how disgusting it is. In the book, a boy is sweet on the chubby girl. The author berates the boy, saying she can’t imagine why anyone would want to touch the fat (described much more intricately and rudely) on her body, let alone find it appealing.

Be aware. I wish this book could just be great, but the fat phobia is rampant and intense. Let’s do better for our kids than this. Let’s not give our daughters any more reason to hate their bodies. The media is already doing a great job of that, they don’t need our help.

Not her best

I have enjoyed many of yourself his books. I can't tell if this one is not as good or if I am just getting bored by her style. However it just didn't keep my interest. It's in predictable.

Not just for children

Excellent young adult book that adults would like as well. For the first time, after seeing reviews that say if you like Harry Potter you will like this book, do I agree. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and wish more of Diana Wynne Jones' books were available in audio.
