Great story

Virtual voice is horrible, but I really wanted the audio of this book. This story is so exciting and this author, who is new to me is very, very good. The drug culture of the Appalachians is at the center of the story. The patriarch of a Jamaican family is lured to the states because of his skill with growing and cultivating weed. His family is also involved with naturopathy with special herbs. What becomes a generational curse ruins the life several of the patriarchs relatives. The Black family lives among a small town of African Americans isolated in the Kentucky wilds. They are surrounded by racist Whites who control the drug trade in Appalachia. Multiple betrayals occur amongst all the Whites and Blacks and when it comes to a head they have to make some sort of peace with one another. At the center of the conflict is an interracial romance with a gifted dark skinned Black woman whose name is pronounced different ways by virtual voice, yuck. The story is exciting and unpredictable. Well worth your time.

I will never purchase another AI book. Monotone, mispronounced words, lack of emotional inflection. Add mixed matched storyline.

A coming of age crime novel

This book isnt centered on the heroine rescuing a man and falling in love, it's a crime novel with a coming-of-age story thrown in. It was a good book, but there were times where I struggled with determining if I'm hearing a flashback or the present. The romance was a bit weak TBH.
