  • Spring Bite Preview - Countdown to CanCast
    Mar 15 2026

Spring is in the air and open water fishing season is almost here. In this episode, Andrew and Jesse talk about the fish they’re most excited to target as the ice melts and water temperatures start to rise. From aggressive early season northern pike to the underrated power of freshwater carp, they share what’s on their radar for spring fishing in Ontario. They also recap their latest ice fishing trip with Smooth River Guiding and how the day played out on the ice.

Kyle Carruthers, organizer of the Cancast Fishing Show joins the podcast to preview Canada’s largest fishing show, now merged with Muskie Odyssey for 2026. He shares what anglers can expect in Peterborough on March 29, including vendors, seminars, giveaways, and plenty of fishing gear.

Wes from WamBaits also stops by to talk about his newest soft plastic baits he’ll be launching at Cancast. To finish the episode, Andrew talks about getting a fishing boat ready for spring, covering maintenance, electronics checks, and tackle prep so anglers are ready when the spring bite turns on.

  • Old Tips, Fresh Bites?
    Feb 15 2026

In this episode Andrew and Jesse Ontario Anglers bounce from the ridiculous history of the Big Muskie (spoiler: not a fish) to why old fishing books still know things your fancy new gear doesn’t. They roast and praise classic vs modern tackle, gush over nostalgic fishing art, talk the upcoming Cancast show (the biggest fishing show in Canada), and drop some Bob Izumi wisdom—basically proving that fishing trends change, but fish remain unimpressed and predictable.

  • Ice Fishing IQ Boost
    Jan 4 2026

Jesse and Andrew talk Ontario ice fishing with guide Matt Martin. They cover rods, bait, ice safety, and fish that don’t mind winter. Matt brings the knowledge, the hosts bring the chaos. It’s practical, a little unhinged, and actually useful. If you like cold mornings, good fishing tips, and the sound of two loons learning in real time, you’re in the right place.
