Perfect for October!

This collection of brilliant short stories by the talented Cameron Chaney is absolutely perfect for October, though it can be enjoyed any time of the year! So much spooky atmosphere, Jack o lanterns, Halloween nostalgia and plenty of chills!

Great Listen For Fall

This is a collection of Halloween-related stories taking place in the small town of Autumncrow, Ohio. If you LOVE Halloween and enjoy spooky short stories, you're in for a treat ! Matt Godrey's narration is awesome as usual. Hoping to see Autumncrow 2 in the future.

A not-so-spooky short story collection

Man, I hate it, but I just did not connect with Autumncrow like most folks who reviewed this book seemed to connect with it. This was a decent, not very spooky short story collection. All of the stories are rather set in Cameron Chaney's fictional town Autumncrow, or are somehow connected to Autumncrow. While this is a cool concept in theory, in execution, what the short story collection becomes is an introduction to important Autumncrow characters and/or an introduction to Autumncrow lore. What I was hoping for was scary or at least creepy standalone horror stories.

The best story in the collection is "I Have No Mouth But I Must Feed," which is truly a dark and spooky horror story that could fit right in with any horror story collection, since, while it is set in Autumncrow, it is not as attached to introducing Autumncrow lore. This story is really creepy. I wish all the stories in the collection felt like this. It also felt the story most aimed at an adult audience. Some of the stories in this collection read as if they were written for a younger audience.

Another strong story is "Frost". It is tied to Autumncrow's lore, but it honestly could be set on any highway. It is a really well done slowburn story.

The rest of the stories in this collection were "meh".

All the feelings of fall

I am not one for guts, gore and horror but I loved this book. It was nostalgic and gave me all the feelings! I loved the intertwining of characters and places from story to story. It had an underlying tone of calmness and peace. I can tell the author is close to the characters as I felt I knew them from a previous life. Great book!

Perfect for Spooky Season

Autumncrow by Cameron Chaney is one of the best books for Halloween lovers. The stories are all wonderful and bring with them a nostalgia for all those care free, spooky nights trick or treating, pumpkin craving and telling ghost stories in the dark of a neighborhood treehouse. The audiobook is so well done and adds to the charm of these amazing stories. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to relive those perfect Fall memories of childhood or wanting to make spooky season traditions.

Loved It! Surprisingly Moving Horror

Really, really enjoyed this. Wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was surprised to find that these stories were really quite deep and more than one was pretty emotionally engaging. The author really managed to capture the creepiness of the small town and also to create characters that felt well-rounded and that one could relate to. Not all of the horror was supernatural, as broken homes and small town Midwest inertia are just as much a lurking danger in some of these. Chaney’s wonderful use of language and Halloween/autumnal settings, as well as his overall themes, really evoke the works of Ray Bradbury in the best possible way. I very much look forward to reading the next volume!

The book is absolutely captivating, boasting exceptional narration. While the stories are spine-tingling and eerie, they also impart valuable life lessons, rendering the book a thoroughly engaging and enjoyable experience.
