The year is 1995 and Tabitha Clive is content to spend her days quietly running the family farm in Kornville, Nebraska, baking prize winning apple strudel and working on her long-awaited novel. The quiet routine of tending to the animals, helping in the cornfields, baking sweet treats, and spending a few hours a day at her typewriter is fine with Tabitha.
The quietness is shattered when renowned mystery writer Theodore Blackwood’s unpublished manuscript, Ink, Flames and Secrets, is stolen from the safe in Emma Zimmerman’s successful bookstore, Pages and Pastries, and the author soon turns up dead. Adding to the turmoil is a string of suspicious fires aimed at destroying books written by popular romance author Tabby Love.
Tabitha, Emma, and retired sheriff Deborah Ortega work together to find the missing manuscript, a murderer, and an arsonist. As they delve deeper, they realize the most likely culprit is a woman determined to finish what her brother had started decades before.
