Publisher's summary

From the New York Times and internationally best-selling authors of the Illuminae Files comes a new science fiction epic....

The year is 2380, and the graduating cadets of Aurora Academy are being assigned their first missions. Star pupil Tyler Jones is ready to recruit the squad of his dreams, but his own boneheaded heroism sees him stuck with the dregs nobody else in the academy would touch....

A cocky diplomat with a black belt in sarcasm

A sociopath scientist with a fondness for shooting her bunkmates

A smart-ass tech whiz with the galaxy's biggest chip on his shoulder

An alien warrior with anger-management issues

A tomboy pilot who's totally not into him, in case you were wondering

And Ty's squad isn't even his biggest problem - that'd be Aurora Jie-Lin O'Malley, the girl he's just rescued from interdimensional space.

Trapped in cryo-sleep for two centuries, Auri is a girl out of time and out of her depth. But she could be the catalyst that starts a war millions of years in the making, and Tyler's squad of losers, discipline cases, and misfits might just be the last hope for the entire galaxy.

NOBODY PANIC.

Critic reviews

"This intergalactic space opera has it all: action, thrills, suspense, laughs, and all the feels." (Kirkus Reviews, starred review)

"Rotating perspectives and never-flagging energy propel this narrative forward, which, if it wasn't compelling enough on its own, is given illustrious life by its ragtag, always-at-odds cast." (Booklist, starred review)

An Excellent Start to a New Series

I loved every minute of this book! I also love when audiobooks do full-casts, which just adds so much to each character while listening! I highly recommend this book!

Highly Entertaining

I absolutely loved it, this was my first ever audio book and i was able to completely sink into the book. I think what really helped was the fact that it has a full cast, i have heard snippets of other audio books before and always found it so distracting when it would be a female protagonist voiced by a male, i feel like listening to this first has helped ease me into audio books and im so excited to listen to more. This has made my work hours so much more enjoyable. This was a great story and i can’t wait for the sequel.

Aurora Rising has raised my audiobook experience

Great story with awesome world building and loves that is was narrated by a full cast. It really allowed one to become immersed in the story.

Lovely, Fun Time

I had a great deal of fun with this book. It took a couple minutes for me to understand what exactly was going on in the beginning, but once we went over the initial world building I couldn't stop until I finished. I even made my wife listen to the audiobook with me. I want to go into further detail, but I'm pretty much brain dead today and wanted to have a little something in this review to convey that I really enjoyed being able to read "Aurora Rising." Oh, and real quick. There's a part in here where all of the narrators are speaking and they blend together. It was such a lovely touch and one of my favorite parts.

Superbly Wrritten & Narrated

The thought put into Aurora Rising is amazing.
Each chapter has a different POV and to go along with that, each character sounds slightly different with those POVs. How they sound while they are telling the story vs how they sound otherwise is amazing.
There are a few curse words and some other points that are not appropriate for younger children but nothing that was off putting.
Definitely worth a listen.

Hey, this is pretty good

Polys pretty good, does have a little cringey dialogue. The voice acting in this is great tho. Amazing job by the narrators
