Publisher's Summary

On doctor's orders, Bertie Wooster retires to sample the bucolic delights of Maiden Eggesford. But his idyll is rudely shattered by Aunt Dahlia who wants him to nobble a racehorse. Similar blots on Bertie's horizon come in the shape of Major Plank, the African explorer, Vanessa Cook, proud beauty and "molder of men," and Orlo Porter who seems to have nothing else to do but think of sundering Bertie's head from his body.

Cecil & Wodehouse - A marriage made in Heaven

Bertie and Jeeves are brought to life in another of Wodehouse’s rollicking tales of England’s upper classes. Jonathan Cecil is brilliant in voicing not only Jeeves & Bertie in such a way that matches the character to a tee, but his portrayal of all the other characters in the story clearly defines them and adds greatly to the fun. This is a great book to listen to and a wonderful way to be introduced to Audible! Many thanks to my wonderful daughter for making me aware of the service - and of this delightful book.

Whimsical and witty

Surprisingly good from start to end. Packed full of humor, great characters, whimsical slapstick and witty banter. Excellently performed by Jonathan Cecil. Also manages to provide some deeper insights into humanity while being irreverent but intellectually honest. Certainly going to look for more PG Wodehouse.

perfection or rather purr-fection

Mister Jonathan Cecil captured the beloved Bertie Wooster as well as the stoically brilliant Mister Jeeves. It was a hilariously heartwarming performance and a must listen.

Dashed smashing!

Jonathan Cecil was born to narrate Wodehouse. A true delight. He captures Wooster's daftness without making him seem like a complete idiot. His voicing of the other characters is so varied and spot-on that I paused to check if it was the same narrator. I'm tracking down all of his performances.
