Bree came to Bramblewood Market for one thing: a jar of amber honey from a vendor she'd heard about at a different market, from a woman whose name she never caught. Simple. Forty minutes, in and out.

That was before she found the map.

The map lives in the market's lost-and-found room and has been there long enough to develop opinions. Strong opinions. Specifically, it has opinions about the fastest route to the northwest end of Row B — and that route involves three wrong turns, a corridor of vendors it still calls "temporary fixtures" after seven years, a confused baker named Jasper who gets recruited whether he wants to be or not, and one white goat named Gerald who shows up and simply stays.

The honey vendor, for the record, is four stalls from where Bree started.

The map knows this. It is not taking the direct route.
