Love is important, but it is respect that is the key to your son's heart. The idea of moms respecting their sons may sound alien to some, but it seems to ignite curiosity across the board. It is easy to relate to the need for all of us to feel a mother's love, but is that the same thing as respect? Even for young boys, the effect of respect is nothing short of astounding when applied properly.

This volume celebrates six such languages - Ancient Greek, Latin, Old English, Sanskrit, Old Irish, and Biblical Hebrew - by first introducing listeners to their most distinctive features, then showing how these linguistic traits play out in short excerpts from actual ancient texts. It explores, for instance, how Homer's Greek shows signs of oral composition, how Horace achieves striking poetic effects through interlaced word order in his Latin, and how the poet of Beowulf attains remarkable intensity of expression through the resources of Old English.

It was Tannen who first showed us that men and women speak different languages. Mothers and daughters speak the same language, but still often misunderstand each other, as they struggle to find the right balance between closeness and independence. Both mothers and daughters want to be seen for who they are, but tend to see the other as falling short of who she should be. Each overestimates the other's power and underestimates her own.

A mistake to buy this
I’m trying to learn Latin and so bought this thinking it would be some audio pronunciation guides and then maybe some reading of texts.
How wrong I was! It’s an attempt to do a Latin version of the modern language audio books. I find those difficult and seen as I am neither Catholic nor have I invented a time machine I am very unlikely to have need of conversational Latin.
Maybe it becomes more useful later but it’s not read in the most exciting way (i.e. with almost no inflection and sounding like someone’s hobby project) so I definitely won’t be sticking it. and regret downloading it.

Not brilliant IMHO. The guy has a grating voice and his Classical (not ecclesiastical which is different) pronunciation is a bit off .... I already have a certain amount of Latin. I was using this to augment my knowledge and pronunciation. My linguistics proffessor would be horrified. Admittedly I only listened to 5mins but his pronunciation of puella was enough.... sorry.

Easy and well-paced a Michel Thomas CopyCat
If you have ever studied using the Michel Thomas technique you will be pleasantly suprised to find that this latin audiobook is very similar. You get presented with words and you must generate sentences. The sentences keep getting harder and harder and it prompts you to give answers which are then corrected.
If you want to learn latin easily without much effort, get this audiobook, but BEWARE
- The pronounciation isn't very good...
- If you are intermediate or advanced, stay away from this audiobook.
- There isn't much content. (perhaps a total of 200 words give or take)

Not just a "survival phrases course" Real Latin
Would you listen to Audio Latin 1-10 again? Why?
Many times
What was one of the most memorable moments of Audio Latin 1-10?
NA
What does Kenneth B. Wolfe bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
Hear spoken Latin
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
NA
Any additional comments?
This is not just a "survival phrases course". This is a course teaching you Latin through conversational type sentences. Singular and plural nouns, pronouns, adjectives, various cases and verbs (present, imperative and infinitive) . This would be a great addition to any Latin course. Classical Pronunciation. It uses Latin word order not English. It has very limited vocabulary, but this is what you want for this type of course. Most lessons would take 3 or four days to master. You can listen to the Audible.com version and read the Kindle written version. Kenneth please write more lessons.

Story
This volume celebrates six such languages - Ancient Greek, Latin, Old English, Sanskrit, Old Irish, and Biblical Hebrew - by first introducing listeners to their most distinctive features, then showing how these linguistic traits play out in short excerpts from actual ancient texts. It explores, for instance, how Homer's Greek shows signs of oral composition, how Horace achieves striking poetic effects through interlaced word order in his Latin, and how the poet of Beowulf attains remarkable intensity of expression through the resources of Old English.

Story
Could it be that for the first time in history, the United States needs Latin America more than the other way round? Since the early 1800s, the United States regarded the region as its backyard, but in the past decade South Americas leaders have increasingly snubbed US efforts to persuade them to adopt free-market economics and sign trade agreements. While Washington has been distracted by military campaigns elsewhere, rivals such as China, Russia, and Iran have expanded their clout in Latin America.

Whether we're aware of it or not, Latin is all around us. Consider the sayings in everyday use: alter ego, ad nauseam, caveat emptor, modus operandi, per se, and, of course, the ever-popular e pluribus unum. Even more abundant are words derived from Latin roots: arena (from harena, meaning "sand"), auditorium ("a place of audience"), stadium (a running track)...and those are just the theatrical ones! It's inescapable.

Everything needed to understand and appreciate the traditional Latin mass! Extremely informative, yet very easy to listen to! This book explains prayer by prayer, what happens at the Latin Mass and why. Why is the Mass in Latin, the use of silence, bells, specific colors, etc. - and how we participate. Reviews are very enthusiastic! Ties in beautifully with Pope Benedict XVI's motu proprio opening the door to the universal celebration of the Latin Mass.

Story
"The Classic of Filial Piety" is a short treatise arising from the Confucian school in about 400 BC. It reports a discussion of Confucius with his student Zengzi. Confucius teaches Zengzi that devotion to one's parents is the beginning of education and moral order in society. A filial emperor serves as a model to all of his subjects. Filial children support their parents in their old age, mourn them decorously at their death, and then sacrifice to their departed spirits. They preserve the good name of the family.
