CRISP AND CLEAR VIEW OF GOD

I love tozer, he not a money preacher, never owned a car, read shakespeare on his knees. And his books were not written to entertain but to inform. And he does a great job. This is the first of two books that explains some of God's attributes. And answer the big question what is like? Highly recommended.

Often beautiful and poetic...

as Tozer rhapsodizes about the qualities of the divine. Some of the material here has appeared in other volumes--either that, or Tozer had a tendency to use a lot of the same examples and metaphors repeatedly--but most of it is worth hearing again. The one flaw in Tozer is that sometimes he can fall into circular logic, especially when he appeals to the intellect to understand the limits of the intellect in comprehending the attributes of God.

Soul Growth

What did you love best about Attributes of God, Volume 1?

I loved the call to remember just who God is. I think we have lost some of the reverence of God in our superficial culture.

Have you listened to any of Michael Kramer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I am not sure if I have listened to Michael Kramer before, but he was spot on - pacing was just right. Great recording.

Get to know God

These attributes of God made me want to know God more as they will anyone who listens to this book. It also made me realize just what has been lost in the church in just the last 50 years.

Deeply impactful. I was spiritually broken...

More Christians need to call out other Christians like this. Tozer holds no punches in explaining our current Church in America as lukewarm at best. And we know from Revalation what Christ will do with the lukewarm Church. Neither hot nor cold...

Not for the fainthearted

I have listened to this on numerous occasions and it never fails to nourish my soul. Tozer is like a targeted laser beam that hits it's mark with absolute precision. There are the occasional blips in his use of terminology and phraseology that might cause minor offence, but he is a man of his time and as such is less subject to our politically correct sensibilities... but this should not put you off. The book is broken up under different headings including God's Imminence, Holiness, Goodness. He talks about the loss of our ability to perceive the majesty of God. There is so much to challenge our comfortable versions of Christianity and as such if you want an easy listen this is not for you, but if you are searching for the things that are deeper then I would suggest that you will find much to meditate and ponder upon.
I have the physical books that benefit from a study guide at the back which for obvious reasons are not present in this audible title.
A word about the narrator: he reads well, intonation is at an acceptable level, my husband doesn't care for his voice, but this is purely subjective.
I do recommend this title along with book 2 which I am now going to revisit. Some titles are only good for one listen.. not so this, it is likely you would revisit again and again.

I foumd it better to listen when not doing much else, multitasking was difficult due to the tone of the speaker. Thought provoking concepts discussed.

BEST book next to BIBLE

Our life will be defined by our view of God, These days we mostly have a high view of self and a low view of God, or a "God" of our imagination. This book brings out the true character of the living God of the Bible whom to know about, is to love.
