Publisher's Summary

When Miss Marple comes up from the country for a holiday in London, she finds what she's looking for at Bertram's Hotel: traditional decor, impeccable service, and an unmistakable atmosphere of danger behind the highly polished veneer.

Yet, not even Miss Marple can foresee the violent chain of events set in motion when an eccentric guest makes his way to the airport on the wrong day.

Agatha Christie Always Pleases

As with every Agatha Christie, this one features a couple of breakneck twists that keep you guessing to the very end. My only complaint would be there was something of a lack of closure as the "bad guy" wasn't "caught" in the usual way. For all that though, still a good listen.

This was my first time listening to this narrator, and I am more used to Joan Hickson's somewhat more "age-appropriate" voice for Miss Marple. Notwithstanding, Ms. Cole did a good job with the range of voices, and made for an enjoyable listen.

Pleasent listen

Stephanie Cole is a good substitute for Joan Hickson. The story is well read. It's a comfortable, easy listen.

Totally entertaining

I listened to the a chapter at a time over a number of weeks and found it really enjoyable. Apart from one character accent (sounding like an extra from a vampire movie to be honest) the reading / performance was spot on and highly entertaining. Well worth a listen.

My favourite Christie story

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely. It is Christie at her best. The narration is perfect.

Which character – as performed by Stephanie Cole – was your favourite?

Farther, the detective. Brilliant.

Classic Christie

For the fans of the classic crime novel, look no further that Miss Christie! Sad to say that this volume is not narrated by the best Marple (well in my humble opinion) Joan Hickson, But Stephanie Cole makes a marvellous substitute and her delivery so character perfect. So easy to imagine yourself sitting alongside Miss M taking in all the comings and goings at Bertrams! As always full of Christie twists and turns - a perfect Sunday or bedtime listen.

Not a bad little read

Once again Christie delivers exactly what is expected, an entertaining, weaving plot that twists to a conclusion with, with hindsight, appears so obvious. I enjoyed the pace and Stephanie Cole certainly gave Miss Marple a likable, believable character. The audio quality was crisp, clear and only a few points gave away a break in reading. Altogether a pleasant experience.

Time for Ms Marple to Shine

Perhaps her finest story of all. When will someone make 'MARPLE' a legend of the silver screen? If I was in the industry I'd have 'the 5.30 from Paddington' and this gem written up as screen plays and made with the finesse of Polonski and the grandiose of Copella(Sophia), with a star-studded cast lead by one of any of the numerous stellar older actresses who have been rationed out few proper character roles over the years.
Stephanie Cole reads 'At Bertrams Hotel' brilliantly, acting out each part exceptionally well, breathing life into the characters so vividly drawn by Agatha Christie.

Excellent

Throughly enjoyed listening to Stephanie Cole read this book, her male character voices are more believable than Emilia Fox.
Miss Marple isn't in this book very much, but she does have some great nuggets of village life comparisons for "Father".

A great listen to help me great through this Lockdown.

A brilliant book and wonderful narration

It is so good to rediscover these stories through Audible and Stephanie Cole 's narration is fantastic. Such a slowly sinister and dark novel.
