Publisher's Summary

Penguin presents the unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, a new novelisation based on one of the biggest gaming-media franchises in the world, read by the actor Gunnar Cauthery. 'I will journey to the black heart of a corrupt Empire to root out my foes. But Rome wasn't built in a day and it won't be restored by a lone assassin. I am Ezio Auditore da Firenze. This is my brotherhood.'

Rome, once mighty, lies in ruins. The city swarms with suffering and degradation, her citizens living in the shadow of the ruthless Borgia family. Only one man can free the people from the Borgia tyranny - Ezio Auditore, the Master Assassin. Ezio's quest will test him to his limits. Cesare Borgia, a man more villainous and dangerous than his father the Pope, will not rest until he has conquered Italy. And in such treacherous times, conspiracy is everywhere, even within the ranks of the brotherhood itself....

Another by the numbers AC book, but still good

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The AC books are very by numbers translations of the game's missions which leads a very clear narrative journe if rather uncomplicated.

But they are good books to listen to as they are easy to follow and are engaging nonetheless. Gunnar's narration is a big draw

What did you like best about this story?

This aC book has more characters and the politics of the Assassin order is played out very nicely here

What does Gunnar Cauthery bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Infleciton, emotion and wit all combined to keep things flowing and keep you interested.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not particularly, it is not that kind of book, it's a thriller/action book, driving more by plot than emotion

Any additional comments?

no

Incredibly disappointed

The story itself is wonderful as I enjoyed every aspect of Ezio’s journey through the brotherhood throughout his life and the games themselves as I grew up playing them.

However the performance from the narrator unfortunately ruined the audio experience for me as they mispronounced names and for some reason gave Italian characters London and Yorkshire accents! I feel at times the narrator forgot the time period this story is set in.

I have read other AC stories including Syndicate and really enjoyed them but the way this was read made no sense and lost all the classic Italian charm Ezio’s story has. I think in future I will stick to hard copies of the books instead.
