We're in the middle of an epidemic of average. So-called "normal" people get up every day, go to work, do what's asked of them, leave promptly at five, and return home to sit on the couch and watch TV. Society tells us that this is what it means to lead a balanced life. Don't stress too much or work too hard. Your career isn't everything. But Grant Cardone thinks this preoccupation with balance has really just given an excuse to be mediocre.

It's comforting to imagine that superstars in their fields were just born better equipped than the rest of us. When a co-worker loses 20 pounds, or a friend runs a marathon while completing a huge project at work, we assume they have more grit, more willpower, more innate talent, and above all, more motivation to see their goals through. But that's not at actually true, as popular Inc.com columnist Jeff Haden proves. "Motivation" as we know it is a myth. Motivation isn't the special sauce that we require at the beginning of any major change.

Did any of the 1 stars actually listen to the book?!?
Audible member since the beginning, pre-Amazon, pre-iPod. #blueplayer
If there's one thing I can't stand in audio books, it's when the narrator is 'literally' reading-from-the-book...yes, I know that's what we're buying, but I want more, I want personality, isn't that why we look for 'read by the author'!
So much whining and complaining, "all he did was answer questions", are you kidding, forget listening to the book, did you even read the title?! This was a great book, TON of content, right blend of anecdotes, minus the obligatory rehashing of the half dozen or so ideas that most authors use to justify wasting 3 to 5 hours of air space in my car. Could've been a blog post and called it a day.
Gary gives relevant, updated answers (from the original book and show). With a world polluted with Internet gurus and social media experts that are trying to push the same tired lines and tactics, Gary is the REAL deal...and the fact that he brought on Leo Laporte (ZD/TechTV) to read questions brought this book full circle!! Loved every minute, smiled the whole time, can't wait for the next one! #questionofthedayanswered

A Compilation of Rants and Not Really a Book
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
The only reason I read books is to get long form content not available online for free. This book is a list of Question and answers from his show all compiled in a book and NOT really a book. Each answer is just a rant and nothing is in-depth. What is the point of a book if its not indepth. I literally mean 1 word answers.
The author himself mentions that he has never read a book in his life and does not read. Yet he decides to write a book. Interesting.
I get it he is great at snapchat etc but a book is not supposed to be the same format as a snapchat feed. He probably got inspired by Kim Kardashian's selfie book.
Its a waste of time and money.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Something new and more in-depth than a guy ranting on different topics for 2minutes each. I dont read books for 1 word answers.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of the narrators?
The entire idea was flawed, its not even a book. Its a chain of rants.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from #AskGaryVee?
Instead of doing 100's of questions it would have been better to do pick 12 topics and gone indepth on those. Zero to One was a book of rants as well but atleast it was indepth rants that made you think unlike this book which did nothing.
Any additional comments?

Excellent Read!!! GeeNuts is the best!
I havent left a book review in a while. I will for this one. even though the book is from 2016 the information is pretty timeless for this developing era. maybe one day the information in this book wont be relevant, but if you were to change out the names of the social media apps of today for the technology of tomorrow, I believe the book would still be impactful!
i love that Gary is real and presents it as is. no filler words and no real hesitation. he speaks his mind and I loved every second of it. keep up the good work!

Some great hidden tips, but too self focused & notch-potch
Would you try another book written by Gary Vaynerchuk or narrated by the narrators?
Yes, because there is clearly knowledge, experience & passion in there. There are 2 main draw-backs with this book: 1. It is too far, wide and hotch-potch. Gary talks a lot about going 'deep' not 'wide' yet this book is trying to be everything & all over the place. I don't think people other than die hard Gary fans buy books to be everything, IMHO2. It is too self focused. Too much self exaggeration, self interruption, self pre-framing. In a world of distraction & fighting for attention it would have been way more powerful to cut that all out & let the good knowledge speak louder, because Gary does have it but you have to wade through a lot of distraction.
What could Gary Vaynerchuk have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
1. Rambled & preambled a lot less before & during each point2. Made the information more focused on the listener 3. Made it more niched, relevant & focusedAnd therefore...4. Made it about 4-5 hours shorter
How could the performance have been better?
As above. There is passion and gusto & confidence & his fans seem to like it. Naturally therefore some are not going to like it. I was very close to switching it off a few times & that probably dis-services the good stuff that is in-between.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from #AskGaryVee?
As above. Plus the rambles, saying what he is/is going to do before he says it [just say it], jump from topic to topic less, create a more clear concept [perhaps this book would serve better in a different format, or should have waited a decade and become an auto-biography.
Any additional comments?
Good social proof of stars/celebs reading questions but not really an Audible book format. Too long; you have to wade to get to the best bits.I thought long & hard before leaving this review as a fellow author and because there are clearly some great shares in this audio, but I feel the 4.80/5 total reviews must be heavily biased towards American 'fans' of Gary and not more balanced views. For a book to be almost 100% it should in my humble view have a more clear, cohesive & linear concept, be respectful of the listeners time & attention & be edited much better to decide the best 60% & the 40% to edit out. Sometimes in a 14 hour audio, a lot less is a lot more. This review is designed to be helpful so if you are prepared to sit through you will pick up some good tips. If you are a UK listener you may find it a little intense.

Does not live up to the hype
This was the first audio book that I was tempted to give up on midway. Maybe I needed to be a Gary fan before listening to this. He just comes across as too full of himself with an ego the size of a planet. "How should I pitch to a VC ?" Reply "Just do it". Thanks that was inspirational. Sorry but "your gift" as you put it was not for me. Just my 2 cents.

Gary Vee you are my hero!!!
I have been following Gary Vee for a while now.. And had enormous expectations.. And yet he always delivers more than expected. His charisma and superhero like energy just make me smile and inspire me! This book does not only give value in terms of business but about life, gratitude and inspires me to get out there and be the best I can be! I love this guy and my biggest dream would be to work for him one day! Would recommend this book to ANYONE, graduates who just finished school like myself, moms and dads who are struggling with work/life balance.. Professionals-anyone!! There's so much we can learn from this superman Gary Vee! THANK YOU, thank you, thank you!! I know I will play the book over and over again.. And every time there will be a new take away, a new piece of gold according to where I am in life! LOVE IT <3

Lifted me out of Lockdown Blues
I'll be making sure I get a regular dose of Gary Vee. Best therapy I've come across for entrepreneurs feeling lost and/or overwhelmed. You can't help but get started on your way up and out when you've spent some time listening to him.

thank you Gary for this amazing book
I love how Gary always had something extra when he reads his own books on audible. Gary helps me everyday to get into the right mindset for creating content and steadily over the course of a few months I have dramatically improved my ability to turn out more content and for it to be less sales and more about brand full stop thanks again Gary you are a legend

Lot of ranting , very little value
It's my own fault for purchasing this without researching it much . This audiobook has very little value . Every second question Gary "hates" . That's fine if it doesn't go for 11 hours. Repetitive . The answer to everything can't be just to hustle and try more. That's a starting point to build upon. He is clearly an experienced , successful guy but this was just a very extended podcast .

Annoying American
Although I did manage to listen right to the end I must admit that he's a very annoying character that is way too full of his own ego. He thinks he's got the charisma of Opera and I think he's deluded. I really admire how far he's come and how hard he works but I do feel sorry for his wife who seems to get very little of his attention. For me becoming wealthy is a way that I can spend more time with family but for him it seems that he is just a workaholic like his father. A bit sad really. Worth a read if you're American and love all that over the top stuff but I wouldn't recommend it to my friends.

Help, Where's the stop button!
What would have made #AskGaryVee better?
Finally pressed the pause button after 4 chapters of excruciating pain. If you like being spoken down to, patronized, and assaulted by the most inane verbosity; then this book is for you.
The trick here seems top be to get otherwise well thought of individuals to ask Gary question he can then answer with a torrent of of the cuff 'Gary Vee' cant.
There is nothing useful to see here. No real insight, nothing useful for anybody wrangling with real business issues, only hyped up 'you can do what I did' self-promotion.
Gary may be a successful entrepreneur, but he has not learnt the art of humility, nor mastered the discipline of collecting his thoughts in a useful manner. The result is a torrent of meaningless garbage, exciting perhaps for Gary wannabe fanboi's and fangirls.
If you are serious about learning something, then consider serious teachers. Gary is not one of them, despite his obvious accomplishments.
What could Gary Vaynerchuk have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Gary has done some amazing things, but he needs to realize that he is an exception, not the rule.
People learn from examples of pain. He obviously had many pain points, setbacks. How he overcame these obstacles, whether by design, or fortune, would provide more valuable lessons to take away.
All I heard was how wonderful he was. It eventually became unbearable.
Any additional comments?
Gary needs to grow up fast. Pretty soon, he will be the old guard, dispensing wisdom to up and coming youngsters. He has real accomplishments that would give him a stable platform to do so credibly. He should let others sing his praises.

Not bad but not great
This isn't Gary's best work. Some solid points are made but there is too much repetition in the answers. Some answers, Gary waffles on for too long before getting to the point. I have high expectations for anything Gary produces (and I know you do too, Gary) so I expected much more from the audiobook. I am looking forward to Gary making it up and hitting out of the park in the next book.

Spare yourself
Really got nothing out of this, it’s just Gary Vee having an ego trip. I don’t recommend anyone listen to this audiobook...
