Publisher's summary

Charlie is gone, and Lincoln finds that Lichfield Towers offers no sanctuary. With reminders of her at every turn, and employees threatening to mutiny, he must try to find the murderer who is killing supernaturals on his own. And keep the murderer away from Charlie.

When the strongman from the visiting Barnum and Bailey's circus is murdered, Lincoln suspects a link, but piecing together the clues becomes dangerous and difficult work. He can't afford to be distracted, yet he finds he can't concentrate fully on the task. Even worse, Seth's mother, the incomparable Lady Vickers, has come to stay.

Ashes to Ashes is a bonus novella-length story told entirely from Lincoln's point of view. It is shorter than the rest of the books in the Ministry of Curiosities series.

Lincoln

I very much enjoy the lead male perspective!
So often in many series I tend to wonder what the train of thought in the opposing lead role is, and with a character as closed up as Lincoln I thoroughly enjoyed an inside peek!

Series Filler Novelette

Told from Lincoln's pov, I think there is something wrong with him. He doesn't think normally, and I think he's bipolar. up, down, up down.
on to the next book in the series

Disbelief

I can’t believe I’m enjoying C. J. Archer’s romance novels. I’m the type that enjoys war novels.

Good - But

Again, a good read (listen) but a bit short - this book should have been combined with the next one. However, I have bought the next one as the story is good and interesting although one wonders if the hero might be a bit autistic.

Love it!

Hope she keeps going! I love all of her books. Yes, they are out there and far fetched but fun and entertaining. That's what we all need sometimes.

Crucial to understand Ministry of Curiosities

This novella is 5th in the Ministry of Curiosities series. It gives crucial insight into Lincoln's motives and emotional state following the end of the 4th book (Grave Expectations). It does require that the reader pay attention (for example, don't try watching TV while reading this), or there will be things that the reader will miss. While I initially didn't think I would really like this novella, but it has become a favorite of mine

Perspective Flip Maked this Series MORE Rich!

There are always interesting side stories inside the main plot of a well told tale. Ashes to Ashes helps us see these "other" perspectives by looking inside Lincoln, Seth, Gus and Cook in new ways. We also get a deeper peak into the motivations of our antagonists - proving deeper why they ARE the bad guys!
Take the time for this novella - it only makes the whole series more well developed and enjoyable!

Answers a couple questions but too short

Really loved the book it runs right along with the ongoing drama. Just wish it had been longer and included in possibly the next book

CPTSD, Social Anxiety, Dissociating…

… Death is so fcked up. From all the trauma he experienced as a kid to the continued trampling of his mind while dealing with supernatural crimes it’s not a wonder he has a problem with small talk at parties. Lincoln Fitzroy doesn’t just need Charlie aka Charlotte. That man needs to be in therapy! No one person alone is strong enough to overcome what he’s been (being) put through. He even has the typical messed up attachment styles that come with being abused by caretakers and neglected by loved ones. Charlie was the only person who could crack Death and get him out his shell. Bring back Charlie!
